Library News: Stage 2 - The Age of Readers
This week, we are analysing the borrowing records of Stage 2! Like Stage 1, Stage 2 has 12 classes split across 4 pods, with three classes in each pod. They have had an excellent year of borrowing, contributing to more than half of the overall borrowing total. Let’s take a look at their borrowing statistics for this year.
Stage 2 Borrowing Statistics
Class | Books Borrowed |
---|---|
Coral-1 | 917 |
Coral-2 | 1083 |
Coral-3 | 1220 |
Eucalyptus-1 | 958 |
Eucalyptus-2 | 768 |
Eucalyptus-3 | 920 |
Sea-1 | 1439 |
Sea-2 | 713 |
Sea-3 | 893 |
Reef-1 | 1269 |
Reef-2 | 1143 |
Reef-3 | 1060 |
Total Books Borrowed | 12,383 |
As the statistics show, Stage 2 students have dominated book borrowing this year, with a grand total of 12,383 books borrowed across the entire stage. Here’s how the numbers break down by pod:
- Coral Pod: An impressive total of 3,120 books borrowed.
- Eucalyptus Pod: Finished the year borrowing 2,646 books.
- Sea Pod: Just behind Coral Pod, with 3,045 books borrowed.
- Reef Pod: Had an outstanding year, with a grand total of 3,472 books borrowed.
Stage 2 students love borrowing from the Graphic Novel section of the library, eagerly picking books or searching for their next title on the return trolley. Many also enjoy exploring the senior section of the library, discovering new topics or brushing up on skills. One standout area of interest this year was Minecraft, with books from that collection rarely staying on the shelves for long! When I announce, “It’s borrowing time,” the students shoot off like rockets to grab their favorite books. Stage 2 also contributed the most book suggestions in the book box this year—well done!
Library Notices
Thank you to all the parents who have recently reached out regarding library notices. We appreciate your efforts to confirm whether a book is truly missing or misplaced. Our team will respond to emails as quickly as possible. As mentioned in previous newsletters, we will do our best to locate missing books. Often, books are mistakenly borrowed under a different name or accidentally added to a classroom library without being checked out properly.
If you have received an overdue notice, please look for the book as thoroughly as you can. We would much prefer to have the book returned than to request payment for its replacement. For Year 6 parents or those whose children are leaving the school, please ensure you have looked for missing books or arrange repayment with the office staff.
Library Lessons
Library lessons will conclude at the end of this week as the library transitions into stocktaking for the remainder of the year. Classes will still come to return their books during this time. This is a great opportunity to return any overdue items. Mr. Matthews will also be hunting for other missing books.
If your family is leaving before the end of the year, or if your child misses their usual library lesson time, please have your child return their books during lunchtime at the library.
Thank you for your support in keeping our library collection complete!
Warm regards,
The Library Team
