From the Principal's Desk

Welcome to Week 7, Term 4!

Not long now until the Martin's Gully Christmas Party and we need your assistance.  Dawn has sent home a few messages asking for donations of items and also looking for parents to select a time that they can help run one of the activities. They do need your help.

The P&C require donations of Tombola Jars (filled with goodies of your choice) and Chocolate Bars. These can be left at the office.

To indicate what time you can help, log on to COMPASS and there is an Insight Survey to complete.

Tokens for the Christmas Party Games are now available for purchase on Qkr. Pre-purchase offer of 25 tokens for $20.  Pre-purchased tokens can be collected upon entry to the Christmas Party.  Tokens can be purchased on the day for $1 per token.  Each turn at a game will be 1 token and there are 7 games.  Orders close 4pm Thursday 5th December.

The choir and a small dance group will perform at about 7.30pm and the fireworks will be on at about 8.00pm

Tell Them From Me Survey Results

Today we will look at Parents support learning at home and School supports learning.

Parents support learning at home

Unfortunately, this is the only area that the school scored below the state average. This is a difficult one for schools to have an impact on as it all relates to what you do and say at home. The first question/criteria I believe is the most important. As a parent, and grandparent, we need to show our children that we value education and that it is important that you go to school every day and always try to do your best.

Parents are Informed

This is another area that the school has improved on in the last twelve months. Setting high expectations has been one of the teachers' goals for the year, and something that we have done a lot of professional learning on.

Infants Choir Assembly/Grand Parents Morning

This Friday, 29th November the infant's choir will be performing at assembly.  We would also like to invite to the school your child's grand parents or Grand friends.  They can come a bit earlier at 12.00pm and visit the classrooms and read a book with their treasured ones and then attend the assembly at 12.30pm.

Captains Speeches

Next Wednesday, 4th December at 9.15am, those students in Year 5 that nominated for school captain will present their speeches. Parents are welcome to attend.

Celebration Of Learning

Our Celebration of Learning Assembly will be held on Friday 13th December starting 10.00am.  Class awards, major awards and Year 6 graduation certificates and book awards to all students in Kindergarten to Year 2 will be presented. Letters will go home this Friday to the students that will be receiving an award. All Year 6 families should attend. There will be a small morning tea available for all families at the conclusion of the assembly.

PAX WORD OF THE WEEK - TRANQUIL.

Tranquil means without noise or excitement; calm; steady; peaceful. Feeling tranquil also means feeling calm. When we are scared, nervous, angry or upset, it can be hard to calm down. At our school we have PAX and YCDI strategies which we use to calm down such as focusing on our breathing and scanning our body.

Being tranquil is part of our PAX Visions at Martin’s Gully.
