University of Sydney’s Year 11 Regional Residential Monday 30 September to Friday 4 October.
Several of our students in Year 11 applied to attend this event. Jack Benjamin and Mackenzie Freeman were chosen to attend this event with other regional students from all over NSW. Here are some of their comments on the experience:
Jack: During the holidays, I was privileged to attend the Year 11 Regional Residential event in Sydney for the University of Sydney. This five-day experience offered regional students a valuable chance to explore university life, engage with various campus faculties, and enjoy a broader tour of Sydney. This included a variety of tours and self-guided activities around the University, Talks and speeches by university associates, College experiences and interactions and fun activities. I truly appreciated this opportunity and am grateful to Sydney Uni for their efforts in organising such a memorable event. It has equipped me with new relationships, new knowledge and a more distinct view of the future.
Mackenzie: Attending the University of Sydney’s regional residential as a Year 11 student was an exceptional, transformative experience that offered an immersive insight into university life. One of the most enriching aspects of the program was engaging directly with faculty members, where I had the opportunity to ask in-depth questions about specific courses and university pathways. I also acquired valuable insights into various entry schemes, scholarship opportunities, and support services, making my goals feel more tangible and accessible. Equally rewarding was the chance to connect with other students from across NSW who shared similar passions and ambitions. Ultimately, the experience left me feeling more motivated and well-prepared for the transition to university, instilling in me a sense of direction, clarity, and confidence as I pursue my academic and career aspirations.
