From the Year 3 Classroom

Reading - Our ‘Matilda’ Literature study has unfortunately come to an end. Students enjoyed watching both the original movie and the musical. We discussed many differences and similarities to the book. For the last few weeks of the year students will be completing retrieval tasks.    

Writing- We have been researching convict days and travel on the first fleet as we work to build a convict vocabulary wall. This week we are drafting journal entries from a child convict perspective.  

Mathematics- This week we have been enjoying some Christmas themed math activities. Students had to crack the codes and work out who the cheeky elf was. It’s great to see some more students mastering their times tables too.  

Inquiry-This fortnight we have been learning about the history of Yarrawonga/Mulwala and all our region has to offer. We have been busy creating tourism videos ready to showcase next week. 

Spelling Bee- Congratulations to our Term 4 Spelling Bee Champions! A big congratulations to our overall Term 4 champion Matilda Courtney. 

Note: Our Champion of Champions Spelling Bee has been postponed to next Wednesday (Week 10) due to our Christmas Concert preparations.
