From the Year 2 Classroom
It's hard to believe we are about to finish week 9!!! The countdown to the end of the year has well and truly started.
In Reading, we have just finished reading The 27th Annual African Hippopotamus Race and are completing some fun activities about the book. The children have completed a book talk, created a new front cover and then were able to use their ICT skills and produce a movie trailer for the book. We have seen some future Steven Spielberg's in action! Next week the children will begin some revision that includes using thinking tracks, summaries, partner reading and stamina while reading.
In Writing, the children have been busy publishing lots of terrific stories they have worked on over the last few weeks. They are looking forward to bringing their published folders home in the last week to share with you their amazing and creative published pieces they have completed overt the coarse of the year.
In Maths, there has been lots of revision on mathematical skills that were learnt this year, including, multiplication, division, time and maths games. The children will also complete some open- ended learning tasks during the last few weeks.
A KK note went home yesterday for the children to buy a little gift for their chosen KK. A reminder that this will be done in the last week and gifts need to be in by the 17th December.
This week the Discovery Centre have been working on their performance for the end of year concert. We have been lucky enough to have the ASPA Education come in and assist the children for this performance. We hope to see everyone on Friday night for the whole school concert.
A huge congratulation to our hard Minilit workers this year. You should all be incredibly proud of your success and progression you have made. Well done to you all!!!!!
