From the Year Prep Classroom
Hello Prep Families,
What a busy few weeks we have coming up! Concert practice begins this week, with our big performance scheduled for Friday night at 6pm (please arrive at 5.30pm). It’s going to be a wonderful celebration!
This fortnight in Literacy, our clever Preps have been learning all about persuasive writing and the joys of reading for fun. As part of their learning, the Preps wrote heartfelt letters to Mr. Griffin and Mrs. Gorman, proudly showcasing all their hard work and achievements throughout the year.
Their mission? To persuade our school leaders that they deserved a class celebration—and guess what? They succeeded! The Preps confidently delivered their letters to the staffroom and presented their case. Mr. Griffin and Mrs. Gorman were so impressed, they gave a big thumbs up to the celebration.
So, we're off to the movies soon for a well-deserved treat. Well done, Preps! You’ve shown that words really can make a difference!
In Maths, we've been revisiting all the different concepts we've learned throughout the year. Fun, open-ended games and activities have helped make this revision exciting and engaging for everyone. We've also been practising our skip counting by 2s, 5s, and 10s—a fantastic skill to keep building at home.
In Religion, we've begun exploring the Christmas story, delving into why it is such an important part of our faith. Through discussions and activities, the Preps are learning about the significance of this special time of year and reflecting on the values of love, joy, and kindness that it teaches us.
What a meaningful way to prepare our hearts for Christmas!
As the days remain warm, please remember to pack a hat, water bottle, and a full lunchbox each day—we’ve been noticing lots of hot, tired, and hungry children. Let’s keep everyone happy and energised for all the exciting activities ahead!
See you soon,
The Prep Team
