From the Year 6 Classroom
In Literacy, the students have finished their Author Study unit on Tristan Bancks. The students have taken inspiration from his craft, tips and tricks and recreate this in their own fictional writing. Year 6 are in their final week of Book clubs, reading from a collection of Tristan’s work. Titles include Scar Town, Two Wolves, The Fall and Detention.
They have now started a unit on ‘Journalistic Training’, where they are learning to identify the main purpose and most important information in a newspaper report.
In Numeracy, the students have completed a unit on Representing and Interpreting Data, where they developed their knowledge on how to find the Mean, Mode, Median and Range of a Numerical data set.
They have now started learning about ‘The Fibonacci Sequence’, where they look at finding patterns in Maths, Art and Technology.
In other news, the Yr 6 students who are attending SHC in 2025 have been taking part in Transition afternoons, where they have taken part in PE, Cooking and Woodwork lessons.
The Yr 6 students are excited to take part in what will be their final Christmas Concert this Friday. They are thoroughly enjoying the workshops lead by ASPA (Australian School Performing Arts).
