From the Director of Curriculum

Ms Chelsea Mouritz

Year 10 examinations

Week 8 saw the completion of Year 10 final examinations. The cohort demonstrated exceptional organisation and self-management skills, both in preparation for and during their five core examinations. Their application to learning is to be commended as they conclude their high school studies and move into the college space.

Year 7–9 learning

Year 7–9 scheduled classes will continue until Wednesday 11 December. On this day, Year 8 and 9 students will participate in an elective step-up day where they will experience the three elective courses they have chosen for 2025. These courses will be interactive and practical, immersing students in their chosen disciplines.

Students wishing to make changes to their elective courses can do so until Friday 13 December by contacting Mrs Lucy Paske at lpaske@smc.tas.edu.au. Students must email Mrs Paske and include a parent or carer in the communication before any changes are approved.

End-of-year assessment statements

Year 7–12 assessment statements will be sent electronically to families on Friday 13 December. These will be emailed directly to your email address by Mr Ryan Flack at rflack@smc.tas.edu.au.

The final report will demonstrate your child’s achievement against their respective grade-level standards. Each student will receive the following in their report:

Year 7–10

  • A Catholic Education descriptor against each learning area strand.
  • An Australian Curriculum rating of either A, B, C, D, or E.
  • Responses to your child’s personal and social capabilities within each learning area.
  • A Pastoral Care comment that includes a student reflection on learning.
    • Example below.

Year 11/12

  • A rating against the Tasmanian Assessment Standards and Certification (TASC) for each criterion within each course.
  • A competency rating against each unit studied in Vocational Education and Training (VET) courses.
    • Example below.
