It's hard to believe that Advent is already upon us. This special time, which includes the four Sundays that precede Christmas, is filled with hope, reflection and joyful anticipation for the birth of Jesus Christ.
Advent, which means 'coming' or 'arrival', is a season where we prepare our hearts for Christmas. As we reflect on Jesus' promise to come again in glory, we are reminded of the importance of pausing from the year's stresses and the bustling Christmas rush and recognising Christ's presence in our daily lives and relationships with others.
In the Church, Advent is marked by beautiful traditions that help us focus on the true meaning of this season. A central symbol of Advent is the wreath with its four candles. Each Sunday, a candle is lit to mark the passage of time and deepen our anticipation for Christmas. We also prepare spiritually for Christmas through prayer, reflection and acts of kindness, where the focus is on giving and caring for others, especially those in need.
As a College community, we joyously look forward to celebrating Advent and Christmas with a variety of liturgies, assemblies, activities and a Thanksgiving Mass (. These events not only celebrate the season but also help our students understand and reflect on the deeper meaning of Advent and Christmas.
After many weeks of preparation and rehearsals, our young students presented delightful performances during their Christmas concert this afternoon in the Nagle Centre. Thank you to all the families who joined us in celebrating. Your presence made the event even more special and memorable for the students. We also extend our heartfelt thanks to the teachers for their planning and dedication in making this showcase such a success.
