This year’s theme for C.E.Sandhurst schools is

“Let the words you speak always be full of grace.”

As we continue to spread the Good News, we are called to be people of dialogue, 

using our words as instruments of love.

We will encourage those in our care to speak kindly to one another in the classroom, the playground, on the bus, in the car and at home.

First Sunday of Advent

This First Sunday of Advent nudges us to reflect on our existence, embrace our divine connection, and radiate light with hope for the coming of God, the source of all life.

We feel a sacred expectation on the first Sunday of Advent, preparing for the Messiah's arrival - Jesus Christ. The scripture urges us to "stay awake," symbolising attentiveness to God's grace. Isaiah's analogy of God as a potter shaping our lives prompts reflection on our adaptability.

Preparing for Christ goes beyond the physical, requiring spiritual readiness and reflection on our shortcomings. We are the changeable clay, and God is our Potter who can change us if we are willing to listen while praying and reflecting on what God has to say to us. Aligning priorities with compassion, justice, and love is crucial to having life in order. As children of light, we're called to illuminate the path of justice. Acknowledging our identity as beautiful beings, we're privileged to call God our Father. 

Prayer for Advent Week 1

Let us Pray:

Heavenly Father, inspire us to follow in the steps of John the Baptist and prepare for the coming of your Son. 

Help us to look honestly into our hearts and see our faults. Give us the strength and hope we need to overcome our weaknesses and help us to stay true to your commandments. 

We ask this through Christ, our Lord.
