Principals Message
Last Sunday, December 3rd we began the Advent Season.
Advent marks the beginning of the Church’s new year
and is the season of waiting and preparation for the
coming of Christ.
Each week during Advent, classes will
present a reflection focused on each of the four weeks,
the first one was held yesterday with grade 5/6
presenting a prayerful reflection in the Amphitheatre.
We welcome visitors to come along each week.
SPECIALIST SHOWCASE
We were very proud of our display of student work at the Specialist Showcase last Friday. It was wonderful to see so many parents , grandparents and friends come along to see our student’s work that has taken place in the last semester.
TRANSITION
Our 2024 Foundation children will visit next Tuesday December 12th. This is Statewide Transition Day when the Grade 6 students attend their chosen Secondary College and Foundation student attend their Primary School. Our transition morning will run from 8.50am until 1.35pm.
OPENING & BLESSING OF the MACKILLOP LEARNING CENTRE
Tomorrow we will welcome Bishop Shane Mackinlay, Mr Paul Desmond, Ms Annabelle Cleeland, CES representatives, Mr Peter Byrne, Mr Jack Bourke, principals, parish representatives, parents and friends to the opening and Blessing of the MacKillop Learning Centre. Whilst we have been using this space for some time now it is important to acknowledge the Government funding that we received to be able to refurbish this building to ensure that we have a modern, bright and generous learning space. A point of interest, our new principal Mr Vincent Ryan will be in attendance at our Opening and Blessing.
SWIMMING CARNIVAL
Our annual swimming carnival will be held on Thursday December 7th at the Stanhope Swimming Pool. This will commence at 9.30am and finish at 1.00pm approximately. Parents are very welcome to come to the pool to support your child/ren.
PUPIL FREE DAY
On Friday December 8th our staff will be working on our School Improvement Plan 2024 – 2027. Mr Paul Bissinella from CES will facilitate this day. Staff will be using the commendations and recommendations from the National School Improvement review held in Term 3 and our Religious Education Review that we had last Wednesday to develop our plan for the next 4 years.
PRESENTATION OF INDIGENOUS ROSARY BEADS
Last week Ms Louise Levy CES Aboriginal Education Officer presented Mrs Angela Brockett and Mrs Catherine Fraser with a pair of rosary beads that had been made with gumnuts by an aboriginal group.
END OF YEAR & GRADUATION MASS
We will celebrate the 2023 school year together with a Mass on Friday, 15th December at 1.00pm. Following the Mass, awards and presentations will take place and leaving students, staff and families will be farewelled. Everyone is most welcome to come along and join us for this celebration.
