Year 4

Meet our wonderful teachers...

Year 4A: Delani Cruse (Team Leader)

Hello SMPS students and families!

My name is Miss Delani and I can’t wait to see you all again in 2024. This will be my eighth year of teaching and I have previously taught Year 3, Prep and Year 4. This year at SMPS I will be teaching 4A again and I cannot wait!

When I am not at school you will probably find me running around the Tan or the lake. In 2024, it is my goal to qualify to run in the 2025 Boston Marathon. It is going to be very tricky and I might not get there but I’m going to try hard all the time – even when it’s challenging!

When I’m not running, you will probably find me reading a book at the beach or eating pasta at different restaurants around Melbourne with my friends. During the footy season you will see me wearing my Carlton scarf and hopefully celebrating lots more wins in 2024! Go Blues!!

It is going to be a fantastic year.

Year 4B: Camilla Ong

Greetings, wonderful SMPS community,

I am thrilled to introduce myself as Miss Camilla, your Year 4 teacher for the upcoming school year in 2024. Embarking on my first year of teaching, I am eager to connect with each student and their families as we dive into a year filled with exciting learning experiences.

I grew up in the vibrant city of Singapore with my parents and two older sisters. My childhood was adorned with sunny days spent swimming and beach outings, all thanks to the tropical climate. I developed a penchant for exploring new hobbies to fill my days with joy as my parents were busy working. In 2019, my educational journey led me to Melbourne, where I pursued my studies at the esteemed University of Melbourne. On a personal note, I recently welcomed a charming ginger kitten into my life, complete with his endearing quirks. Beyond the classroom, you'll often find me going on road trips or relishing Melbourne's renowned coffee scene during leisure brunches. My passion extends to my well used kitchen, as I thoroughly enjoy experimenting with diverse recipes from various cuisines, both in cooking and baking.

With great enthusiasm, I anticipate a fantastic year ahead at SMPS, filled with growth, discovery, and memorable moments.

Year 4C: Bec Newman

 Hello SMPS students and families,

My name is Miss Bec and I am so excited to be teaching Year 4 this year. This will be my second year teaching Year 4 at SMPS.

I am originally from NSW, and I started my teaching career there before moving to London for a few years and teaching there too. I really like to travel and see new places, and when I lived in London I was lucky enough to visit lots of different countries. In 2020 I moved to Melbourne, and I love it here! I’ve been very lucky to travel around Australia lots while living in Melbourne, including a trip to Darwin last year.

I have had a great time teaching in several different classes at SMPS, including in Year 4 and as a Specialist teacher teaching Environmental Education.

I like to spend my free time being outside, having picnics in the park or going for runs. In 2024 I will be training for the Melbourne Marathon, which I’m very excited for! I have lots of plants at my house which I love to look after, including a veggie garden.

I can’t wait to learn with the wonderful Year 4 students this year.
