Reminder: 2024 Early Access Lists for English Text

This week sees the beginning of our annual Head Start program which provides students with an opportunity to engage with their learning program for 2024. Students meet their new teachers and classes, and have time to orientate themselves with homework and curriculum expectations for the next year of their learning program. The Louise Humann Library has been busy preparing and planning for the teaching and learning programs across the college, including organizing new texts and digital platforms for 2024.

Our most recent display is a Christmas celebration with a decorated tree and Library Staff plus Heads of House portrayed as Christmas Elves. The students have enjoyed identifying each elf. Christmas brings us to the summer holidays when students have time to restore and regenerate and the library hope that they will take time to do some holiday reading. We have a display of new books and recommended reading for students to borrow, take home and enjoy on their time off.

It is with great sadness that the library team farewell Kai Phillips. He has been working throughout 2023 teaching Maths classes in his graduate year. He has achieved full registration this year and is leaving Marist-Sion College to teach at a Catholic girls’ school in metropolitan Melbourne. We are very proud of Kai who began working with the library team in 2021 as a Library Assistant while he was studying Secondary Teaching. He has been an outstanding member of our team, and we wish him every success in the future.

A Christmas Prayer

“On this day of joy, we are all called to contemplate the Child Jesus, who gives hope once again to every person on the face of the earth. By his grace, let us with our voices and our actions give witness to solidarity and peace. Merry Christmas to all!”

Pope Francis (2016)
