Mango Pickup

Earlier in the year we offered SKiPPS families the opportunity to purchase a delicious tray of fresh Queensland Mangoes, direct from the grower through our annual 'Mango Fundraiser'.

Despite massive challenges due to less than ideal growing conditions over spring, we are excited to announce that the mangoes will be delivered to school on Tuesday 12th December.

Families who have placed an order will be asked to collect their trays on this day from the Performing Arts room from 3:30pm - 4:15pm.

A email will be sent directly from Compasstix to confirm these arrangements.

If you are unable to collect on this day, please let us know and we can hold onto the tray for collection the following morning.

Lolly pops and candy canes

With Christmas fast approaching, many students are kindly sharing cards with their classmates and these are often accompanied by a sugary candy cane as a gift.

When these are handed out in the yard before school begins, children naturally want to open them and eat them immediately. Not only is this a dentist's worst nightmare, but it also takes away a parent's ability to choose and monitor what their child is eating during the day and goes against our rules around sharing of food at school.

Without wanting to appear grinch-like, we are asking students to hand out and share their cards and candy canes at the very end of each day so they can be put into bags and brought home to allow parents to make decisions about if and when the sugary canes are consumed.

Teachers will support and monitor this taking place.  We thank you for your support and understanding on this matter.

Lost Property

As always as we head towards the end of term, our SKiPPS lost property is overflowing with lots of discarded jumpers, jackets and other belongings. It has also grown this week with items returned from Dads' Camp.

Below are some photos of a fraction of the items currently missing in action.

Please come and visit the lost property  - this is located by the piano just inside the door from the quadrangle towards the Year 3/4 classrooms.

Any items not claimed by the end of the final day of term will be donated to charity.

Final week of sushi

For those students who have ordered sushi on Fridays for Term 4, please note that this week is the final delivery for the term, which will be delivered on Friday 8th December.

This means there will be no sushi on the final Friday of term (15th December). Please pack school lunches accordingly.

A huge thank you to SKiPPA, and in particular the wonderful Briony Foote, for organising weekly sushi this year.

End of term arrangements & assemblies

We wish to update parents on arrangements for the end of this term as we finish the school year.

Our final day of term for students will now be Tuesday 19th December and we will finish at the normal time of 3:30pm. This is instead of the original plan to finish at 1:30pm on December 20th.

Team Kids will now be offering a full day program for students on Wednesday 20th December. This can be booked at https://www.teamkids.com.au/venues/st-kilda-park-primary-oshc-5/

Our big end of term celebration assembly will be on Friday 15th December at 9am. This will be a wonderful sign-off for the school year with musical performances, Year 6 awards and perhaps a surprise or two.

Also taking place on Friday 15th December will be our final transition session for the year. During the afternoon, students will meet their 2024 class teacher in their 2024 classroom and be given a class list to take home of their classmates for next year.

We will have a short final assembly at 3:15pm on Tuesday 19th to say a final farewell to our graduating Year 6 students and to hear them sing their graduation song.

A request from the school library

It is now time for all library books to be returned to school.   Please search your homes and ensure books are back before Wednesday 13th December.

Your help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Dads Camp

I hope that all those families that attended this year's Dads' Camp had a wonderful time down at Wye River and that all of the mums left behind also enjoyed some time to relax over the weekend.

Whilst the event is not school-run, it has become a lovely tradition at SKiPPS that provides a great weekend for our students and also a good opportunity for the dads in our community to connect.

Over the years, different groups of dads have been responsible for running the event - something that takes a huge amount of time, organisation, planning and hard work.

A massive thank you to Phill , Justin, Brendan, Stefan, Derek and Peter for making this year's event happen.
