Last week we were fortunate enough to be the very first school group to attend swimming classes at the new Northcote Aquatic and Recreation Centre!

Foundation
The Foundation students were very excited when they were visited by a very special guest this week, La Befana. The children discovered the magical tale of La Befana, a kind and benevolent old woman who travels on her broomstick, leaving small gifts and sweets in the stockings of well-behaved children on the eve of the Epiphany (January 6th) or coal to the not so well-behaved children. The children were fascinated by this Italian tradition. As part of this celebration on the 6th January, Italian families come together to share stories, sing festive songs, and enjoy delicious sweets.
Year 1/2
Over the past few weeks, the Year 1/2s have been busy estimating, measuring and comparing the area, volume and capacity, and mass of various objects in our classroom.

Year 2/3 Our Art Teacher, Giulia!

Giulia is very talented at Art. She made our Art lessons very good. Giulia instructed us on what to do and she also encouraged us to do our best. Giulia is a very good teacher.

Giulia is our Art teacher and we have done so many amazing Art pieces with her. She's so artist and she is really lovely. Thank you for teaching us Giulia. We love you!

Giulia is so kind and she makes us happy. She is the best teacher ever for Art. Giulia makes us calm when we do Art. Olivia and Chloe B.
Giulia was an inspiring and artistic Art teacher. She was a very fun person and we will miss her so much. Also, she was always ready to teach us interesting Art work.

Year 3/4
Nino's Visit
Today was the last visit with the Nino's children for this year. We started with lots of fun outside, kicking and throwing balls, running and exploring the fairy tree. Then we headed inside to have a quick snack of watermelon before making Xmas masks.
Slam Poetry
ITALY By Roman, Massie and Sai
Italy is the best,
So don’t put it to the test.
They have spaghetti,
and have those delicious amaretti.
They have all the types of pizza,
that makes everybody felicia. (happy 😁)
4 World cups Italy have,
because they have very strong calves.
The coliseum, the gondolas and the ruins in Pompeii are truly a beautiful sight,
at night.
Fiat, Lamborghini and Ferrari are all Italian cars,
And they're as expensive as golden bars.
They love playing with scopa cards,
In the country yards.
The roman empire was ruled by Julius Caesar,
Who truly was a great leader.
Italy is a great place to visit,
And you will enjoy every minute!
Darkness By Katelin, Tiffany & Brenton
My head is spinning as the darkness now grinning.
Everything black then I hear a big whack, I then wonder,
What was it, maybe thunder? Then my mind goes back to the beginning.
Darkness.
This time, I see shadows surrounding me as I begin to fade in a mental way. Suddenly, arrows started shooting skeletons in the Darkness.
Haunted spiders try to taunt me, I know I might be losing it but I suddenly feel like I’m choosing it. I feel lost in the darkness as my bed starts swallowing me in and I quickly jump off then regretting my decision as I feel sharp nails grabbing me from underneath.
The darkness brought monsters. I knew it.
Darkness.
I sprinted to the door as the darkness came close behind.
I open the door and a crack appears. The light finally, I then look behind to make sure they’re not there but then realize it was all in my mind.
Darkness.
Then all of a sudden, the light starts flickering. “Flick, Flick!” I quickly pinch myself to make sure it wasn’t a dream, ”Ouch!” I wake up and notice unhappily that an orb was staring at me face to face and spoke,
“Darkness is coming. Darkness is here!”

CAKE By Veer and Nirav
Cake is easy to bake,
doesn't matter if you make a mistake.
It's very delicious indeed,
you will like it, guaranteed!
It has lots of sugar in it,
I'm sure you will eat every bit.
You will savour every flavour,
and some cakes even have layers!
If you eat too much cake you will become unfit,
so try not to eat too much of it.
Cakes are usually for birthdays,
but sometimes you can eat it on normal workdays.
Cake has lots of ingredients,
even making it is a good experience.
Cake sometimes has cream,
that's the supreme dream!

You are able to trade with each other
It's good you will never look away
In fact you will be there for the whole entire day!

Because all the others are so lame!

The first second I downloaded Roblox,
I was addicted.
Ever since then, I didn’t care about stuff like roadblocks
Oh, how can I stop this addiction?
I wish to be rich with robux,
so that I can buy an avatar of ducks!
I want to upgrade my avatar,
So I'll look rich enough to own lots of in-game cars!

Year 5/6 Art
Thanks to Giulia our resident foodie and artist, the Year 5 and 6 students were led through a process of recreating an Andy Worhol inspired piece of artwork. The results were spectacular! Here's just a few.
