Prep Transition Days
The new Preps for 2024 had another opportunity to visit their Prep Classrooms last week. They were involved in some play and also decorating their names, ready for display in their classrooms next year.
Allwell Testing
Last Monday the current students in Year 2 and 4 completed their Allwell Academic Testing. Any student who missed this testing will have an opportunity in February along with any new students coming into the Year 3 and Year 5 cohorts.
Primary Assembly
Our 2023 Primary Student Leaders excelled last Friday when they ran the whole of the Primary Assembly by themselves. Prior to the assembly they worked through each aspect with Miss Wright and they needed no reminders on the day about what was happening. They led the primary students in a worship song with answers which the other primary students appeared to enjoy.
The Australian Mathematics Competition Certificates were handed out last Friday. Congratulations to all our students who participated in it. Special mention must be made to James Whelan who was awarded the ‘Best in School’ by the Australian Mathematics Trust. He is our very own budding mathematician!
Icypoles
The student leaders continue to sell icypoles for $1 on a Wednesday to Friday at lunchtimes, outside the LOTE room. Correct change is appreciated. The final day for icypoles is Friday 8th December.
Canteen
At this stage, the canteen will be open next Wednesday 6/12, Thursday 7/12 and Friday 8/12. The final day for any lunch orders is Friday 8 December and then the canteen will be closed for the remainder of Term Four.
Christmas Hampers
Thank you to those families who have already made donations of goods towards the Christmas Hampers.
Last Day of School
On Wednesday 13th December, the Primary School will hold a final Celebration Assembly at 9am. Parents are warmly invited to attend. There will be certificates presented to every student, the announcement of the 2024 Primary Student Leaders, farewell of the Year 6 students from the primary school and of staff who will not be in primary next year.
After Recess, the students will continue the celebrations with less formality when the Primary Dance will be held. It should be a very enjoyable time.
God Bless,
Mrs Glenys Bailey

Prep Visit Moonlit Sanctuary
On Tuesday the 14th of November, Prep B and Prep/1M went to the Moonlit Sanctuary. The students learnt about the three types of carnivores - eagle, tasmanian devil and dingo, that live at the sanctuary. We were able to touch a shingleback lizard and a python. As a class, we walked around the sanctuary to see the wombats, koalas, baby emus, cockatoos and we fed some wallabies. As we are learning about the external features of animals in Integrated Studies, it helped us to see the animals in their habitats. It was such a fun excursion!
Class 1/2J Update
This week we have been looking at acrostic poems. We wrote our name down the side of our page and thought of words to describe our personality and hobbies. We continued our learning about ‘Amazing Animals’. During devotion we listened to the song ‘Everlasting Arms’ by Lou Fellingham and ‘Gratitude’ by Brandon Lake. We improved our dictionary skills, gathering speed in locating words suggested by Mrs Johnson and Mrs Sinclaire. During Mathematics, we rotated groups covering, addition of bank notes, telling the digital and analogue time, sequencing and ordering numbers and writing 4 digit numbers.
Have a great weekend everyone! - Kate, Asher and Mrs Johnson
It has been a wonderful week of learning in the Year 1/2 classes. Megan Clarke an ELC 4 parent came to share her book “Spring time in my Garden” with the children. She showed the students how to illustrate birds. Mrs. Clarke shared her gift of illustration and it was truly an amazing time.
“I have never done anything so amazing” Max 1/2T and “This is just amazing” Veer 1/2J
We have also enjoyed doing puzzles as part of our Literacy rotations. We learnt that red poppies are for men and women killed in the war. But did you know that the purple poppies are for all the animals lost during the war?
Class 1/2J spent a sunny afternoon painting poppies to make a wreath, illustrated the poem” In Flanders Fields “by John McCrae. During Literacy rotations students researched and wrote out facts about Remembrance Day.
It was so special to hear Jacob share about his great great pop who fought in the war. Thank you for sharing this special photo, Jacob.
Year 5/6 Indonesian Cooking
Our amazing year 5/6 students recently whipped up Dadar Gulung, a fantastic Indonesian dish. These scrumptious coconut pancakes get their striking green colour from natural pandan leaf extract, and the filling? Pure bliss — a mix of coconut, palm sugar and pandan leaves.
Beyond the kitchen magic, our students learned a bunch! They mastered new ingredient vocabulary Indonesian, followed recipes, measured like pros, rocked teamwork, tidied up like champs, and enjoyed a tasty feast together.
Do you want to cook up this delight at home? Find the recipe here and join the culinary adventure! Happy cooking! - Ibu Newton
Year 5/6 PE
Rolling Thunder and Bullseye Brilliance: Year 5/6's Epic Bike Ed and Archery Quest! 🏹🚴♀️
Get ready for a saga of high-speed thrills and precision marksmanship as our Year 5/6 squad abandons the ordinary for the extraordinary in the great outdoors! Conquering the Bike Ed battlegrounds, students swapped pencils for pedals, earning the fierce moniker of "Speed Demons on Two Wheels." But that's not where the excitement ends – brace yourselves, world, as they've now turned their focus to the noble art of archery, releasing their inner archers on a quest for bullseyes and belly laughs.
From nocking arrows with surgical precision to hitting targets with style, whether they're seasoned sharpshooters or budding bowmasters, we proudly dub them our archery aficionados. Watch out, adventure – Year 5/6 is rewriting the rules! - Mr Zacc Klan
Art Supplies
For Art in 2024 The Art room is seeking donations of cardboard tubes (from inside wrapping paper, paper towel etc) and at least 90 plastic bottles (any water or soft drink bottles with lids if possible)
Please collect any of these over the school holidays. The items can be brought to reception, Gblock or your child's class. Thank you in advance. Mrs DeHaan
