From the Principal's Desk

Dr Nancy Hillier

What a wonderful week as we celebrate outstanding experiences for both the College and Grammar Schools, encompassing students from Years 5 through to our senior years.

Whilst the College Performing Arts night has a long history of celebrating our girls as they come together to make the stage their own, this year, our boys had the chance to compete in their House groups and enjoy activities led by our student leaders. This is a wonderful way to celebrate the year as it rapidly comes to a close.

The photos cannot capture the true essence of community however all those in attendance at the CPA evening felt that special magic from each House. Similarly, the boys were able to make their activities meaningful and allowed wonderful bonds to be formed across the years. This will only enhance the sense of House spirit when we all return for 2024.

In the continuing introduction of our Leaders, I am delighted to focus this week on our House Captains. Each leader from Butterworth, Morgan and Orrock shares a little of their hopes and vision for the coming year and I commend their writing to you.

Ries and Bonnie - Butterworth House Captains

Hey everybody, this is Bonnie and Ries, and we are your Butterworth House Captains for the 2023/24 school year! We both started at Pittwater House in 2019, and have completed our whole High School journey here. Throughout the years, we are extremely grateful to recognise some of the amazing opportunities  that led us here, helping us to develop our leadership skills. We both thoroughly enjoyed the opportunities that Year 10 ski camp provided us well as programs we were able to assist in leading such as the Time and Space program run earlier this year. We’re both extremely passionate about athletics/sporting opportunities and the community of Pittwater House and wish to project this throughout the year.

In 2023/2024 we’re striving to create a greater school community through events such as the return of the House Games, the athletics and swimming carnivals, as well as the fast approaching and much anticipated College Performing Arts and the inaugural  Grammar Big BBQ. Our primary goals throughout these events are to create a strong sense of House spirit whilst fostering relationships between different year groups and across the College and Grammar schools. Our primary goal is for the students of Pittwater House to have the best experience and most fun they can possibly have.

I hope you guys are as excited as we are for what the new year holds for us!

Daniel - House Captain Orrock

My name is Daniel and during this year I had the pleasure of becoming one of the Orrock House Captains alongside Molly, for this academic year. I have been at the school since Year 7 and since that day have indulged in various curricular and extracurricula activities such as being involved in the School surfing team, competing competitively in AICES cross country, completing a half marathon, sun run and many more. It is my goal this year to work together with our School and Molly to unite and lead Orrock to success.

Molly - House Captain Orrock

My name is Molly and I am the College Orrock House Captain for 2023/24 alongside Dan. I started at Pittwater house in Year 5 and from the very start I have been very competitive and have always been all about the House Spirit and House Competitions. My fondest memories of being a part of Orrock was College Performing Arts where all of College Orrock comes together to compete against the other Houses. I was lucky enough last year to help run it where I truly discovered my passion for leading the House.

What we aim to do for this School during this academic year

Dan and myself plan to make the most of this year with regards to house spirit and competition. We plan on implementing house games very week, alternating the year groups, for example Week 1, Years 7 and 9 and Week 2, Years 8 and 10, this allows for a connection between the year groups to be made, creating a closer School Community.

We also plan on meeting with the Houses more regularly to learn chants etc., to build House Spirit. We really look forward to leading Orrock in the next year and making the most of it.

On Behalf of Morgan, Campbell and I are extremely privileged and honoured to be the Morgan House Captains for 2024. We have been inducted to these roles and have focussed our main goal for the upcoming year to strengthen community bonds and drive the House Spirit and grit that surrounds our strongly knit family, Pittwater House.

Brooke - House Captain Morgan

I have been at Pittwater House since Year 7. I have enjoyed every moment of the past 5 years participating in the wide array of activities Pittwater House has to offer. Through my participation I have made long lasting friendships and connections with wonderful people. As Morgan House Captain I will strive to create an environment where everyone feels safe to step out of their comfort zone and try something new. Perhaps they will make mistakes but failure is a stepping stone to growth and I will endeavour to be there every step of the way encouraging and supporting them. I hope to be a friendly face to all students at pittwater house. I am extremely excited for this upcoming year to bring the house spirit and show everyone what Morgan is made of!

Campbell - House Captain Morgan

I started at Pittwater House in Year 5, and since then, I have involved myself in a myriad of sporting opportunities offered by the school. I wish to express my delight and gratitude regarding all of these activities provided by Pittwater House. The welcoming environment which has been created at our School has made it an effortless and enjoyable experience to start at and get involved in everything it has to offer. I intend to act as a role-model for not only Morgan House but the School as a whole. I’m incredibly excited to see how the 2023/24 year unfolds and the memorable moments that will come with it!

Our goal for 2024 is to put the students at the centre, where we want to rekindle the excitement around House competition. We would like to extend a warm welcome to all incoming and current 2024 students and show them around Morgan House's many charms.

In a final reminder, I want to give every support to our Student Leaders as they seek to make the Christmas Appeal the best ever… please give another item from your weekly supermarket shop to assist them in their endeavours.

The Christmas Tree area is certainly taking shape and I do wish to thank those families who brought goods on the College Performing Arts night. In addition, I am so grateful to those who donated at the time of purchasing their ticket to the College Performing Arts evening. At the time of writing, donations are just short of $900 to be shared with the charities.

Please enjoy the events of the final school days of 2023.

With every good wish.
