Principal's Message

Dear Parents/Carers,

STUDENT ART EXHIBITION

What an amazing array of Art work on display in the school gym. It is the culmination of twelve months endeavours in art classes under the guidance of Donna Dixon.

Donna has done a fantastic job putting together another fantastic Art Exhibition and it was great to see so many people at the opening on Tuesday afternoon.

It was lovely to hear from Sherry Johnstone as our guest artist. Sherry is an incredibly passionate and talented artist and she has passed that enthusiasm onto our students. The indigenous art work as the centrepiece of our display is just superb. Thank you and well done to all involved for making this yet another successful whole school event, and to all the students for allowing us to all see your incredible artwork. The Exhibition will close at 4.30pm today.

FOUNDATION 2024 VISITS- READY ,SET, GO

Our very successful Ready, Set, Go Foundation Orientation program is going very well.

The new Foundation students for 2024 appear ready to commence school in 2024.

Jacqui Matters and Julie Giblin are doing an excellent job welcoming our new cohort and giving them practise with school activities including sounds write, reading and games.

EAL CRAFT SESSIONS

This weekour EAL students have had a lot of fun during their craft sessions. These sessions are welcomed by our EAL students and we must thank Nikki and Wei-lin for your continued dedication in this space.

KOORIE END OF YEAR CELEBRATION

On Tuesday, Mrs Mills and Mrs Arnott took a large group of Year 3-6 students to Woolsthorpe Primary School to participate in an end of year celebration for Indigenous students, organised by Steve Young, Koorie Engagement Support Officer. There were several activities set up including painting, damper making, a cultural session and outdoor games. There were students from many of the local schools in attendance including some secondary students who helped out throughout the day. Our graduating Year 6 students were presented with a special plaque. It was a great day for all involved.

YEAR 5 FLETCHER JONES EXCURSION

The Year 5 students have been learning about local history, iconic places and people in Warrnambool. To extend their learning they had the privilege of going on an excursion to  Fletcher Jones Garden on Friday 17th November. They delved into the history of Fletcher Jones, his life and the story of his business. They also learnt about the transformation of the old quarry into the beautiful garden it is today, strolled through the old buildings and listened to guest speakers tell stories of the site. Learning about our local history connects us to our community. https://www.fjstories.org.au/explore-theme

GOVEMBER/RAFFLE

The GOvember program is going extremely well. We are on target to meet our goals but we have to keep persevering. It is amazing to see the students participating in laps of the oval with staff close behind.

We know that when we work together as a team we can achieve what we set out to do. Also don’t forget to buy and sell your tickets for our Monster Raffle. There are so many fantastic prizes and every dollar we raise goes towards our much needed outdoor court space. If you have completed raffle books please return them to the school office.

CHRISTMAS EXTRAVAGANZA - THURSDAY 7TH DECEMBER 2023

The students and staff are working on their acts for the upcoming Christmas Extravaganza. Our Monster raffle will be drawn on the evening and with over 50 great prizes on offer it is not to be missed.

So bring along a picnic rug and enjoy some delicious food from the food trucks - Jets dumplings, Twistto Warrnambool, Dutch Pancakes by @dutchcafebv, Timboon Icecream, Espresso Mobile Cafe, Pita Pocket, The Spud Bowl and WPPA Sausage Sizzle.

There will also be performances by our school music groups and students from Physipole.

We look forward to seeing you all there!

Have a great weekend!
