Como House Excursion

On Friday17th of November, the grade 1/2 classes travelled to South Yarra by bus to visit Como House. We participated in four activities; a tour of the mansion, a session playing a range of old fashioned games, a lesson in what it was like to be a servant in the 1800s, and a garden tour following a map and finding clues to solve a mystery. It was a terrific experience where we had lots of fun as well as learning  a lot about life in the 1800s. 

We used the experience to write our own recounts about the day, using descriptive language and illustrations. We have also worked on family timelines and considered the similarities and differences between now and the 1800s. 

We are really glad some of the rules about school have changed!
