3/4 SV

Week 9, Term 4

Literacy

Conjunctopoly!!! We have been learning about proper use of conjunctions through playing a game based on the classic game, monopoly! We've had lots of fun playing it with our friends.

Don Bosco Camp!

Camp was a wonderful experience for all! The 3/4's were all so well behaved and had a great time playing games, doing beach activities, playing in the giant GaGa pit, playing volleyball and soccer, eating lots of food and enjoying having a sleepover with their friends. This week students have been writing all about their experiences from camp. Some example sentences include;

"My favourite part of camp was the gym because it was really big and there was a variety of different games to play."

"My favourite activity was archery because it was really challenging and it was exciting when you hit a bullseye."

"Camp is the best thing ever because you will play lots of games and you will have fun."

"I liked eating the chocolate mousse at camp because it was so good!

Inquiry

Students have been learning all about our neighbouring countries, including the different climate zones and natural vegetation of each country. In groups students worked to research a neighbouring country which they then presented to the class. This week students have begun creating their own artificial Island. First they located an empty space of sea on a map. Students then recorded the location of their Island using latitude and longitude coordinates. We are currently researching the climate and natural vegetation on our artificial island. Next week we will be crafting our flag, coat of arms and national anthem. Once complete students will be presenting their artificial island to the rest of the class in week 11.
