FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Welcome to Week 10 Term 4, the final week of the 2023 school year.

On Monday morning I received a beautiful letter from the Smith family thanking our school community for our support in helping them navigate the tragic passing of Raphael, Evita and Philomena. With the family's blessing, I have linked the letter below for all to read.

Letter: Elise and David Smith

We continue to keep David, Elise and their beautiful family in our prayers.

Year 6 Graduation and End of Year Mass

On Monday morning Father John McHugh joined us to lead the celebration of our End of Year Mass acknowledging St Nicholas Feast Day and  our Year 6 Graduates. This was a special and appropriate way to celebrate 2023 and formally farewell our Year 6 students.

After Mass I spoke briefly to our school community, in particular Year 6, on their worth as they transition to the next stage of their lives. For those interested, a copy of my words can be found here.

Moving on Up day

On Tuesday our students enjoyed a morning of transition with their 2024 teacher. Change is always met with some anxiety, though Tuesday morning's events support our children as they enter the 2024 school year.

Below is a basic class structure for our 2024 School Year.

Farewell staff

The end of the school year brings with it some sadness as we farewell for the last time some staff who have been with us for an extended time. To Miss Grace Blackey, Miss Amy Geddes, Mrs Liz Ibbetson and Miss Anna Maher (all of who we will farewelled at a special morning assembly this morning) thank you for your contribution to St Nicholas Primary School and helping make our school what it is today. We also wish Mrs Lily Single and her family safe travels as she takes leave to travel around Australia.

2024 School Fee Structure

As communicated on the 12th December, the school fee structure will have some small changes in 2024. Please ensure you have taken the time to read the following communication: 2024 School Fee Structure.

Christmas Joy - Mufti Day

As a school community we have raised $335.35 in support of the St Vincent de Paul Christmas Appeal. Thank you. All the money raised goes to those in need in our local community.

Christmas Eve Mass

A big thank you to the students who have indicated that they would like to be a part of the Nativity play for Christmas Eve Family Mass, 6:00 pm start at St Nicholas Church (Sunday, 24th December). The students will need to arrive at St. Nicholas Church at 5:40 pm and meet on the paved area beside the Church (closest to Kmart Carpark).

Wishing everyone a very merry, happy and holy Christmas and new year.

John Clery
