LS3 Junior News

We are disciples of Jesus with Grateful hearts! – LS3 Juniors.

This week LS3 Juniors have been thinking about expressing gratitude for all of God’s creation and reflecting on what we can do to be disciples of Jesus. We have written these prayers to share during Morning Gathering. All students will have the opportunity to share their prayer to the group.

SPORTS NEWS

Swimming is over, we had our Senior Students participating in Soccer for House points.  Our Grade 3's and 4's competed hard, fairly and showed excellent Sportsmanship towards each other.  Congratulations to Teresa for winning the matches today.

Our Grade 5's and 6's competed against each other in Soccer.  The maturity on the Soccer Field was admirable and outstanding to see. Well done to everyone who participated today!  Congratulations to Patrick for winning the matches today.

GRADE 5 BIKE EDUCATION

Grade 5 Bike Education will continue next Friday December 8th. Grade 5 students will need to bring their bicycles and helmets to school and leave them in front of their Learning Space. If it is raining heavily that morning please leave bikes at home. A reminder if they are riding to school, students must wear their helmets and walk their bikes on school grounds.

Next week is the final week for Bike Education so we ask that if your child’s bike has been left at school for the duration of the program that you organise to pick it up next Friday.

DIVISIONAL SWIMMING 2024

We are beginning our planning for next year. Our Divisional Swimming Competition is quite early in the year. Because we do not have a District Swimming Competition to identify students who qualify for Divisional Level, we asked the instructors at Casey Race to nominate students that would be able to compete at the Divisional level. Students that were included were students who were in the top swimming groups of squad or shark and they felt would be able to compete at Divisional level.

There are a few requirements that need to be met to qualify for Divisional Swimming:

  • Students need to be between 9 and 13 years old by December 31st, 2024
  • Students need to be involved in swimming lessons outside of school swimming
  • Students need to be at Squad Level in their swimming

Please note, this is only the first step, as I will then send a form home to the students nominated by Casey Race. In this form students will need to nominate which events they would like to enter. Please note students will need to swim for 50 metres. I will need their swimming instructor to time them using the stroke they have nominated for this distance. This will need to be emailed to me no later than January 25th, 2024.

The schools in the district will then get together and put forward their students, the events they wish to enter and their times. Unfortunately we can only enter one student for each event for each age group. If there is more than one child nominated, we will look at their time and the student with the best time will go forward to Divisional Swimming.

I will contact parents who Casey Race have nominated and then meet with the students next Wednesday.

JUNIOR NETBALL CLINICS

Juniors have had a great time in their first two netball clinics. They have learnt to move and react quickly, various passes used in netball. We thank Netball Victoria for organising Scarlette, our coach. She has been great with the students. We would also like to thank the Sporting Schools Program for providing the funding for these clinics.

Junior Netball Clinics continue next week. Could parents please ensure your child is wearing their sports uniform, brings their hat and water bottle on the following days:

Week 10

Monday December 4th – LS1 and LS2 Juniors

Tuesday December 5th – LS3 and LS2 Juniors

Friday December 8th – LS2 and LS1 Juniors

Junior parents please ensure you have acknowledged the notification on Operoo and that your child’s profile is up to date.

Students will attend a 50 minute clinic on both days in their Learning Space groups. Please ensure your child is wearing their sports uniform (which can either be shorts or tracksuit) and has their water bottle and hat on the day.

Reminders will also be placed on Morning Reminders and in the Newsletter. Parents please ensure you have acknowledged on Operoo and your child’s profile is up to date.
