Regional Athletics

Congratulations to Liam, Tess and Aaron who competed this week at a Regional level! Liam and Tess were awarded a third place medal and Aaron was awarded second place in shot put. Aaron has subsequently been invited to compete at a State level! We are so proud of each of you!

Cricket Victoria Clinic

All year 1 & 2 students were lucky enough to be involved in a Cricket Victoria clinic on Tuesday. We learnt so many tips and tricks that were able to help us focus on throwing, catching, bowling, fielding, hitting the wickets, batting and fielding. This clinic was in partnership with our girls' cricket clinic on a Monday night. We are so grateful to have Cricket Victoria at MPS.

Health and Wellness

Last week due to Melbourne’s wet weather we had the opportunity to have some health and wellness classes with our year 1 & 2 students. We completed an ABC of our names and had to spell out our name and complete the workout. This is a great activity to do at home as well. Then we completed an Inner Assembly activity. What makes us smile and happy? Mrs Costa played the last 5 minutes of the AFL Grand Final – GO PIES – as that made me SO happy! Students had to come up with something that made them smile. It was really nice to share these positive experiences with our classes.

New Basketball Backboards!

Mrs Costa and the MPS students wanted to say a huge thank you to Dave Koolstra and his incredible team for the installation of these amazing new basketball backboards. Not only did they install the new backboards, but we have new rings, nets and netball rings and nets. We are so thankful for all your hard work. They look incredible and the students absolutely love them.

Soccer/Football Australia

Every class at MPS for the next 4 weeks will have the opportunity to have a Football Australia session with Shelley.

We have learnt and completed so many new skills including the Ronaldo Chop, toe tap touches, dribbling, stopping of the ball, rob the nest, gate skills and even had time for some soccer games with goal scoring. What a fantastic opportunity this has been for our school. We are so lucky to continue to have a range of different sports offered during P.E class.

Quidditch

For an exciting start to Term 4, Mrs Costa thought it would be a fun and interesting idea to have a game of Quidditch! WOW, how entertaining this was to play and watch. Students had SO much fun. We don’t have special effects and magic but we did have our imaginations. It was so fantastic to see everyone getting into the game and I loved seeing all the Harry Potter fans soak up every minute. Mrs Costa’s favourite was listening to the running commentary from Harry Potter fans as the game went on.

AFL Footy Day

On the last day of Term 3, MPS participated in FOOTY DAY! What an incredible day this was. THANK YOU to everyone who got involved and made this day an unforgettable one. A special mention to AFL Wheelchair Victoria, Gabby Seymour from AFLW Richmond, Sarah Sansonetti from AFLW Collingwood, Thalia Goddard from AFLW Melbourne, AFL Victoria, AFL SEDA and Mascue from Footy Star Academy. This was a day to remember. It wouldn’t have been possible without all of our students who enjoyed the day and had a go at everything. Thank you to our staff who were enthused and a special thank you to the teachers who played in our staff/students AFL Wheelchair game. Congratulations to Miss Bailey who won our staff Footy Tipping Competition!

We can’t wait for another footy day next year!

And also….GO PIES!
