R.E. NEWS

Confirmation

Please keep our Confirmation candidates in your prayers as they prepare to receive the sacrament this Sunday 17th September. Our Confirmation Mass will begin at 9.00am. Candidates and their sponsors need to be seated in the centre section of the church by 8.50am, with all other family members sitting in the sections to the left and right of the altar.

Parents of candidates, please ensure you send in the information page to your classroom teacher. This must be completed in full, so appropriate details can be passed on to the Parishes. There are still a few outstanding and incomplete forms. This is now a matter of urgency.

Migrant & Refugee Sunday

Sunday 24th September is Migrant and Refugee Sunday. Everyone is invited to a Parish Mass at 9.00am, followed by a morning tea. Father Paul has asked that those attending bring a plate of food to share, representing your culture. Come along and celebrate the diversity of nationalities that help make up our local community.

LIBRARY NEWS

Book Fair

We are excited to announce that our annual Book Fair will be held in Week 2 of Term 4!

Students will have the opportunity to browse available books with their class and create a "Wish List" of books that they would like to purchase prior to their campus "Sale Day". This year we will be open both before and after school to allow all parents to come and browse the fantastic books available for purchase.

Primary Sale Day- Wednesday 18th October, 8am - 9am and 3pm - 4pm

Infants Sale Day - Thursday 19th October, 8am - 9am and 3pm - 4pm

Options for purchasing at the Book Fair...

  • Students with an accompanying parent only will be able to attend the Book Fair for their campus between 8 - 9am or 3 - 4pm to purchase books and accessories.
  • Students without accompanying parents will attend the Book Fair with their class to purchase books and accessories on their sale day.
  • The Fair will be open to parents during school hours also 9am - 3pm
  • There will be one catch up day for students that missed out on the sale day. The catch up day will be announced closer to the date.

Payments options for Book Fair...

  • EFT - There will be an eftpos machine available at each campus on "sale day".
  • Cash - Cash payments can be made at both campuses. If you are sending cash to school with your child, please place it in a zip locked bag and ensure you write their name, class and the amount clearly on the zip locked bag.
  • Pre-Pay - You can make a pre-payment to Scholastic for your child to use at the Book Fair. The amount can be any value you choose, and can be used for any item at the Fair (like a gift card). If you choose this option you will need to write the amount you have prepaid and your receipt number on the back of the "Wish List". Your child will bring home their completed "Wish List" prior to the Book Fair. Students will not be able to take items home until the receipt number is provided.

Early Bird Reading Club

Please remind your child that the Early Bird Reading Club is on each day from 8.30am. This is an opportunity for students to get in some valuable quiet reading time. Every chance to read personal choice books can only help reading development and building reading abilities.

At Infants there is always an opportunity to read with the library staff. Stickers, books and lots of congratulations are always available. At Primary it is quiet independent reading in a warm comfortable space.

Congratulations Rosie Jolliffe in KP for completing your Early Bird reading chart. Rosie regularly attends the library to read before school. She enjoys picture books and always has a great big smile on her face. What a reading superstar!!
