Saints Unplugged Junior
The final Saints Unplugged Junior was held on Wednesday 8 November. For the first time, we used the outdoor performance space with a packed program. Our junior students put on so many wonderful performances to finish the year. The Year 11 Hospitality students prepared some beautiful food for our parents. Thank you to our instrumental music teachers for their presence and guidance throughout the evening.
Uniforms
We try so hard to keep ensemble uniform costs to a minimum for parents of growing boys. To continue to do that, we need your co-operation. Please check that your son has returned all uniform items such as bow ties and choir vests to the College. Unfortunately, many choir vests are still missing, which may prevent us from having a uniform for the choir next year.
Lavalla opening liturgy & advent liturgy
Our cantors and Mass musicians have performed at their final liturgies for the year. We thank all cantors and musicians for their invaluable service to our liturgical music. Saints has an amazing culture of liturgical music which is one of the best in the nation. We receive numerous wonderful comments and compliments from visitors from various parts of the country who attend our Masses. The most frequent praise we hear is that "nobody does it as well as Saints".
Spirit of Arts Awards
Our final recipients have received their awards at the last assembly. The Spirit of Arts Awards, comprise bronze, silver and gold distinctions, are designed to inspire and support young men in realising their full potential within various artistic domains for which they exhibit an interest, talent or aptitude. These awards recognise and reward advancements in artistic abilities and dedication to the arts throughout the students’ education from Year 7 to Year 12.
Students can apply for a Spirit of Arts Award at any time. Please see the Arts staff to get an application and information booklet.
Opportunities
Jazz camp is a life-defining experience for 10 to 18 year olds. The five-day residential camp is held in beautiful Katoomba from 1 to 5 January 2024. Fantastic tutors headed up by John Morrison, masterclasses, ensembles, big bands, student concerts, professional concerts, jam sessions and, most importantly, incredible food! Please pass on this information to students who would benefit from this five day experience. No previous experience in playing jazz is necessary. Singers also catered for! To register go to jazzworkshopaustralia.com.au
Thank you and well done to our Friends of the Arts parents and our musicians for another amazing year of music making. Enjoy your Christmas break. Stay safe, God bless and we’ll see you next year.
