R.E. NEWS

The Feast of St. Edward the Confessor

This Friday 13th October is the Feast of St Edward the Confessor. St Edward was a King of England around 1042 - 1066, and built St Peter’s Abbey (now Westminster Abbey), found in Westminster, London. This is also where he is buried. St Edward was a peaceful man who always prayed to God. We will celebrate St Edward's Feast Day with grade liturgies.

Praying the Rosary

October is the month of the Rosary. The Rosary is a traditional Catholic prayer reflecting on the lives of Jesus and Mary. Students will be praying the Rosary in class each day during the month of October.

Next Wednesday 18th October, students will be joining other children around the world praying the Rosary together at 9.00am. This is a part of the “One Million Children Praying for Peace” initiative of Catholics around the world.

This year we will be open both before and after school to allow all parents the opportunity to come and browse the fantastic books available for purchase.

Options for purchasing at the Book Fair on "Sale Day"...

  • Students with an accompanying parent/carer only will be able to attend the Book Fair at their campus between 8am - 9am or 3pm - 4pm to purchase books and accessories.
  • Students without accompanying parents/carer will attend the Book Fair with their class to purchase books and accessories on their sale day.
  • The Fair will be open to parents during school hours also 9am - 3pm. Please sign in at the Front Office before making your way to the Library.

  • Cash - Cash payments can be made at both campuses. If you are sending cash to school with your child, please place it in a zip locked bag and ensure you write their name, class and the amount clearly on the zip locked bag.
  • Pre-Pay - You can make a pre-payment to Scholastic for your child to use at the Book Fair. The amount can be any value you choose, and can be used for any item at the Fair (like a gift card). If you choose this option you will need to write the amount you have prepaid and your receipt number on the back of the "Wish List", the wish list with your receipt number will need to be brought to school as proof of payment on sale day.
  • Students will not be able to take items home until the pre paid receipt number is provided.
