Outdoor Adventure

Last week, we embarked on an adrenaline-fueled journey with our Year 9 and 10 Outdoor Education classes as our students delved into the heart-pounding world of water skiing at Lake Barrington, Tasmania.  Joining forces with the Horsehead Water Ski Club, students dove headfirst into a day packed with challenges and triumphs. Against the backdrop of scenic beauty, they navigated physical and psychological hurdles, mastering the art of water skiing one exhilarating moment at a time.

It has been truly awe-inspiring to be immersed in the beauty of creation. Surrounded by the majestic scenery and connecting with the wonder of God’s creation.  Each moment spent navigating the waters and overcoming obstacles was an opportunity to give glory to the divine artist who crafted such breathtaking landscapes for us to enjoy.  In the embrace of nature’s splendor, our students discovered not only the thrill of water skiing but also the profound joy of interacting closely with the beauty bestowed upon us, reinforcing the reverence for the natural world and the Creator behind it all.

Through teamwork, perseverance, and a spirit of adventure, our students discover the boundless opportunities for growth and self-discovery that Outdoor Education at Leighland Christian School can offer.

Tasmania Reads

A good book is like a good movie...but with more subtitles!

Tasmania Reads (launched in 2023) promotes reading to all and inspires our communities to discover or rediscover the joy of reading. This year's theme is "Try Something New". Author Simona Piscioneri spent time with our students reading her book "All About Bible Animals". Just look at the wonder on each child's face as her written words came to life.

Year 5/6 Art

The learning objective is to explore shape, space and contrast while studying the works of Carmen Herrera. Students used coloured pencils to draw various shapes, covering a sheet of paper with a pattern. They then used a black marker to craft contrasting shapes on top of their initial layer, creating a mix of positive and negative spaces within their work... and you thought primary art classes were just about finger painting!

NSATIS Sports

Leighland Sports have had a great start to our NSATIS sports for 2024. We are proud to recognise the incredible effort and sportsmanship displayed particularly by our Tennis team this season. Despite facing tough competition from schools like St Brendan-Shaw, Marist, and Launceston Grammar, our students showed great resilience and determination in every match. Their commitment to improvement and their positive attitude on and off the court truly exemplify the spirit of our school's athletic program. Congratulations to Jasper Beer, Micah Pienaar, Finlay Atkins and Ezekiel Moore for their hard work and dedication so far this season.
