Burnie Primary Student Leaders

Hello, we are Sophia Singh and Emma Riley, the School Captains of 2024. We would like to talk to you about all the things we as a school have done this year.  The Student Leaders have fortnightly meetings with Mrs Polden, where we talk about our ideas for the school.

The student leadership team also went to a leadership conference to learn how to be better leaders.

The swimming carnival was also a highlight of many of the students and our annual Easter egg hunt was also a great part of the term.  First, we would like to talk about the student leader meetings we have with Mrs Polden. We use these fortnightly meetings to discuss the matters of the school. These include competitions, fun days, events and anything else that we as leaders think needs to be improved or discussed. We take suggestions from the other students to see how we can improve the school to make everyone feel safe and happy.

Secondly, the student leader team went to a conference to improve our leadership skills. The GRIP team made the learning fun and interactive for everyone. We learnt how to make and share new ideas so we could improve and add to our school. We learnt how to help younger students and let them have a say around the school.

Thirdly, the swimming carnival was a great part of this term. Everyone enjoyed participating in the races, going on the waterslide with their friends and having free play in the pool. Lots of students also loved going to the canteen. It was a great day for everyone.

Lastly, we had the Easter egg hunt. Students enjoyed hunting for eggs with their friends and helping other students. It was a fun time and it taught students to share. It was also a good way to celebrate Easter and remember what Jesus sacrificed for us.
