To celebrate IWD, Cool Aeronautics invited MGSC to a girls engineering the skies airport experience day. Ten of Year 9 Enhancement students spent the day at Moorabbin Airport visiting the Airport museum, tower control, Kirkhope Aviation hanger and Simpson Aero Electrics. In the afternoon there was a presentation by the President of the Royal Aeronautical Society, Emma and an aerial deisign challenge.
The Moorabbin Airport excursion was a wonderful learning experience, which inspired some of us to consider a future career in aeronautics. We got to participate in enjoyable building games and got the chance to look and go inside old aeroplanes! We had a lesson explaining how the airport system works and how to build a future in that career. They also gave us the opportunity to look inside the watchtower and see outside to watch the aeroplanes and helicopters fly in and out of the airport. In my opinion, this trip was an incredible one time experience and we learnt a lot, the flight workers were very welcoming and the day was absolutely amazing!

At MGSC we are lucky enough to have our inaugural VCE-Vocational Major Program.
Within this program students can engage with applied learning practices, learning by doing and further investigation into portions of the curriculum that interest the students.
In our Work Related Skills subject, we have been investigating how Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) practices are crucial to ensuring that workplaces remain happy and safe environments. From our studies into a range of OHS practices, we were able to draw many applications with the Australian Grand Prix and were lucky enough to attend on Thursday 21 March. We could see a range of OHS practices and policies being enforced from the Grand Prix event itself to all the different vendors around Albert Park.
A great day and couldn’t think of a better way to wrap up our unit on OHS.
