Here and There

Year 10 Experience - a week of activities

Over three days Year 10 students participated in skill building activities focussed on enhancing study habits, independence and resilience and promoting friendships.  One day was at school with preparation for their Work Experience week in term 2. Then there was two days exploring Melbourne in a day camp situation.  Students had a list of assignments to complete at various landmarks. They checked-in with teachers at the locations as tasks were undertaken.

Tuesday

Year 10s commenced their City Experience with a performance from the Bunurong Elders. We then attended Elevate workshops on study skills and completed some preparation activities for Work Experience in term 2. The rest of the was spent working in groups making preparations for our two day City Experience.

Thursday

I woke up early on Thursday to catch the train and met friends at Mentone station. Our journey took us to various landmarks, Hosier Lane, Treasury Gardens, Fitzroy Gardens, Melbourne Museum, and Carlton Gardens. We explored Queen Victoria Market, bought fruits, ate lunch at a Korean Restaurant, and rested at the State Library before visiting Melbourne Central.

Friday

On Friday morning, my friends and I met at 9 am, the same as on Thursday. We took the express to Flinders Street early and grabbed a coffee before heading to Federation Square. I visited the colorful sculpture at Birrarung Marr, filmed a dance, and then explored NGV. Briefly rested at Sidney Myer Music Bowl, stumbled upon the World's Biggest Lunch event. Explored Botanical Gardens, and took the bus to Old Melbourne Gaol. I had more Korean food for lunch, relaxed at the State Library, then strolled on Swanston Street.

Gratitude to teachers for guiding us throughout the day.
