Foundation News

Wow! The Foundation students have almost completed their first Term of school!

They have mostly gotten the hang of the school routine and are becoming more and more independent with all tasks.

The addition of Wednesday last week was much anticipated amongst the students who finally got to visit and borrow from the school library.

Reader bags, books and diaries have continued to cause quite a stir with children getting excited about reaching the first milestone - 25 nights.

We acknowledge and celebrate this with a reading award that is handed out in our Foundation assembly.

Also in our Foundation assembly are our Berni Trophy winners - the last two weeks saw Foundation Turner winning followed by Foundation Everitt.   Foundation Carnovale have been crossing their fingers and trying their best to be Respectful, Responsible and Safe to receive Bernie cards.

Another exciting event and fundraiser was ‘Crazy Hair’ day.

Thanks to all the families and students who were able to contribute and style their hair for such a good cause.

In class we continue to look at letters and the sounds they make.

In literacy learning centres students are beginning to recognise high frequency words and starting to sound out small words using clues such as the initial sound and the picture.

It’s great to see all students using this knowledge and starting to write letters and sounds in words.

In Numeracy we have continued looking at numbers by building them in different ways, ordering them correctly and thinking about where they might fit on a number line.

We have been playing games with cards and rolling dice to help look at what comes next (one more or one less).

A quick reminder to make sure you have given permission on Simon for your child to attend this Thursday's excursion to the PAC to watch ‘Room on the Broom’.

Thanks again for your support over the Term.
