Sustainability

Children maintaining the garden is essential for nurturing their sense of responsibility and connection to nature.  Engaging in regular garden maintenance tasks, such as watering, weeding and pruning instills them with a sense of ownership and pride in the living environment they help to create.

Through hands-on care, children learn the importance of consistent effort, patience and attention to detail, all of which are valuable life skills.

At St. Bernard’s students are given the opportunity for Garden Club every Monday for this reason.  Students are encouraged to come along for as long as they like over the lunch time break to care for our garden, our orchard of fruit trees and 5 school chooks.

So if your child is looking for something to do over the lunch break, encourage them to make new friends at Garden Club!
