Law Society of WA's Mock Trial Competition

⚖️Round 1⚖️

On Wednesday 6 March, our inaugural Mazenod College Mock Trials teams, comprising students from Years 10 and 11, battled it out in the Courtroom!

Our students took on the roles of barristers, solicitors, witnesses and Court staff, and in Round 1, prepared and presented a fictitious criminal case before a mock trial judge in real Courtrooms in the old Supreme Court building in Stirling Gardens, Perth. Our Defence team was victorious against the Prosecution team (Perth College) and our Prosecution team was only narrowly defeated by the Defence team (Iona Presentation College).

The Mock Trial Competition provides a unique opportunity for our students to develop advocacy skills and enhance their analytical thinking, problem-solving, ability to think on their feet, teamwork and communication skills while experiencing the WA legal system firsthand. Congratulations to all students and staff involved! Best of luck for Round 2.
