It is unbelievable that I am writing the last Newsletter for Term One. As I reflect on the term so far, I am very proud of our children and the way they have settled into the 2024 school year and the growth they have made. I congratulate our children on their dedication to learning, meeting our expectations and the respect and kindness they have shown their classmates. I thank you for your support and encouragement which has assisted your children to have a positive start to the 2024 school year.

As we approach the Easter break, make sure you take the time to rest, recharge and enjoy the precious moments with your family and friends. Term Two begins on April 16, when we will continue to embark on new adventures to ensure our children continue to learn and grow. Monday April 15 is a school closure, all staff will be involved in Professional Learning to deepen our knowledge of engaging children in Prayer.

Holy Week is the most important time in our Catholic Faith. The events of Holy Week recount the ‘passion narratives’ in the New Testament Gospels that relate to the suffering, death and burial of Jesus Christ, culminating with His Resurrection.

Palm Sunday - Holy Week begins with Palm Sunday, when Christians commemorate Jesus’ ‘triumphal entry’ into Jerusalem where the Gospels tell us he was greeted with crowds waving palm branches and crying ‘Hosanna!'

Maundy Thursday - The Last Supper - Maundy Thursday marks the Last Supper that Jesus shares with his disciples, his betrayal by his disciple Judas Iscariot, and his arrest at the Garden of Gethsemane.

Good Friday - Jesus' Agony on the Cross - Good Friday commemorates Jesus’ trial before Pontius Pilate, his sentence of death, his torture, and his crucifixion and burial.

Easter Sunday - The day when Jesus rose from the dead. The resurrection gives us all a sense of hope. The resurrection is God’s promise that love will always have the upper hand.

2025 Prep Enrolments

Our Prep enrolments are officially open for new families. St Michael's has an excellent reputation as a wonderful school community where each child is known. I encourage families who have a child they wish to enrol for next year to submit an enrolment application ASAP. Existing families are guaranteed a place, but you must submit an enrolment form. We ask that all enrolments be completed via the link on our website. Please visit our office and speak to Indi or Michelle if you require assistance. We have begun our school tours with many families attending. Their feedback about our programs, culture, and facilities has been very positive.

Building Grant

The Labour Government pledged funds towards the Catholic School Building program if re-elected, and St. Michael's has been selected as a recipient of this funding.

We've received a generous grant of $3,000,000 to enhance and expand our classroom capacity. Collaborating with MACS and our newly appointed architects, Clarke Hopkins Clarke, we're in the initial stages of planning this upcoming building program.

As the project advances, I'll ensure to provide regular updates to keep you informed.
