Here’s the 2024 Year 11 Physics crew. They have been on an incredibly steep learning curve this year, and they have really risen to the challenge in a godly way.
We recently finished a “depth study”, a season of guided but open-ended investigation. They each pursued an understanding of the operation of a different electronic component. They designed and carried out practical experiments to test their operation. And they presented their findings to their peers at the end, as real-world researchers would.
Erik studied thermistors, Kayla studied light-dependent resistors and Jono studied diodes. Each produced some very nice experimental "characteristic" data that showed how the components behaved.
Eli studied logic gates. He built the amazing circuit he is holding from scratch! It has the ability to add two four-digit binary numbers, represented by on and off switches, and give an answer as a five-digit binary number represented by five LEDs that are on or off.
All of them did a great job and have produced projects that would be great material for university entry interviews. But more importantly, all these students enjoyed the process of learning, honoured God by using their gifts and did some fun physics!
Years 3 and 4 had a fabulous day on Wednesday 26 March during our annual AFL gala day at the Showground in Nowra.
John and his two helpers organised a well-run event for all the participating schools.
Nowra Christian school students enjoyed competing against St Michael’s, North Nowra, and other primary schools in AFL games. Our NCS teams were great sportsmen and women, putting in their best effort and working together as a team. We were so lucky to have many high schoolers volunteer and give us helpful hints and tips while refereeing the games.
At the end of the day, our very own Eden G challenged John, the organiser, in an arm wrestle. After a long struggle, John won. The Horselman boys were able to reconnect with friends from last year. It was a fantastic day.
On 22 March, we went to Calderwood Christian School in the minibus with eight CRU leaders. Which included Eadie M, Will A, Ollie T, Josh T, Keida K, Millah R, Claire H and Chelsea T.
We learned that God gives us more than we deserve if we trust in him. We also learned that Jesus died on the cross so that the gap that sin made was fixed between us and God. The game that helped us learn was called Peter's Quest. In summary, it was an amazing day that everyone enjoyed.
Thank you to Mrs Thuaux and Miss Lawrence for taking us up and back. Here is a Bible verse from Romans 10:9-10 ‘So you will be saved if you honestly say, “Jesus is Lord,” and if you believe with all your heart that God raised him from death. God will accept you and save you, if you truly believe this and tell it to others.’
P.S. For year 5’s it would be helpful for you to come to CRU and be leaders in training for next year thanks!
