Mr. Carlyle's Message

Hello families and welcome to this week’s newsletter.

Welcome back to term 2 everyone!!

What a fantastic first week back it has been, with staff and students all returning with energy and enthusiasm.   Autumn is well and truly upon us, with the change in season creating the most spectacular colors over the next two weeks around the school. The work we did in rebranding the school shines at this time of year, with the uniform, logo, and values posters all adding to a very colorful aesthetic.

Our senior grade 6 jumpers and polos have arrived, as modeled below. They are being worn with pride by our graduating cohort, so don't be shy in letting them know how great they look.

Smart Watches

We have seen a sharp rise in the number of students who are wearing a smartwatch/device to school.  There is a wide range of what these devices look like and their functionality.   It is important to highlight that the Department of Education and the school have firm policies regarding mobile devices.   A smartwatch is anything with access to a cellular (telecommunication) system and must not be used at Ballan Primary School during school hours, including lunchtime and recess, unless an exception has been granted.  As of Monday, smartwatches will be treated in line with our mobile phone policy, and students are required to hand them in for the duration of the day.

Hair

A friendly reminder that in line with the school's uniform policy   Hair should be neat and tidy and long hair (shoulder length or longer) is to be tied up in a style appropriate for school. This applies to all students.  What we want to highlight here is ensuring that hair is tied up.

Open Day

Our annual open day for prospective and new parents will be held in May.  If you know any families who will be joining us in 2025, or considering it, please let them know and pass on the information below.
