Wellbeing

Last week, the Foundation and Year 1 students developed their understanding of needs and wants. They were given a more advanced group of items to sort into needs and wants – providing lots of discussion and “ah-ha moments”. Identifying items that are essential versus items we can live without would be a good discussion to have with your child at home.

This week the Wellbeing puppets were up to their tricks again with Tango the Snow Tiger showing us his very unhealthy breakfast choices! Luckily, Kevin and the students were able to teach Tango about foods we should eat all the time and foods that should only be eaten sometimes. The students enjoyed watching a short video about healthy eating and have even learnt a song to remind us about the benefits of good food.

The Year 2 to 6 students have continued to work on resolving problems in teams, whole class and as individuals. Highlights have included the hula hoop, newspaper, and spot challenges. All three challenges involved different forms of communication and I was impressed with the teamwork and communication skills all students demonstrated!

Students have also been working hard to complete their Problem-Solving projects using iPads. Problems and solutions are being generated and solved with students understanding that there are many solutions to a problem. This type of thinking encourages a positive mindset and an understanding of choice!
