Principal's Notes

Dear families and friends,

What a lovely welcome back I received from everyone this week after my long service leave. We had a wonderful time travelling around Europe and are already beginning to plan our next trip. I keep getting asked what my favorite place was and I can only mention a top five - Sahara Desert, San Sebastian, Budapest, Salzberg and Poland.

I would like to say a big thankyou to Miss Purnell for taking on the Principal position in my absence. She did a wonderful job and kept everything running smoothly. Thank you to Mrs Bell, Mrs McNaughton and Mrs Girdwood for filling in the classroom and tutoring roles. Each week (wherever I was), I would read the newsletter to see what had been happening at school and was amazed at all the things that were going on each week.

I have had a chance to see the school photo's that were taken just before I left. Please contact the school if there are any issues with the printing quality and we can then contact Frank directly to resolve this.

The use of the school mobile phone and app has been fantastic and has allowed for all messages to reach the staff. The phone will be carried by staff whenever we are on excursions as well.

The number is 0447 544 212.

Book Week

Next Thursday, we will be celebrating Book Week with our dress up day and parade. This is always one of my favourite days of the year as it is lots of fun and we celebrate READING. Miss P and Tammy have organised the staff costumes this year, so that should be lots of fun. Families are very welcome to come and enjoy the parade at 9am. The Kinder children will be joining us as well.

Scholastic Book Orders

Issue 6 of the Scholastic Bookclub is live. If you are ordering please use the online LOOP ordering system found in the brochure.  Please complete your orders by Friday 25 August.

Upcoming Events

Next Tuesday afternoon, the senior class are off to Taekwondo in Hamilton as part of the Sporting Schools Victoria Grant funding. Both junior and senior classes will have two lessons each. We will travel to Hamilton in Jon Hermann's bus.

We also have the Father's day stall next Friday at school, which will be run by Parents Club.

A reminder that the next student free day is on Monday 28th August. The focus for the teachers this day will be looking at the new Maths Curriculum that has just been released.

Best wishes to all the football and netball teams competing in this weekend's finals at Coleraine and Cavendish.

Have a lovely weekend,

Lisa Ferrier
