From the Principal

Dear Parents and Carers,

A short note from me this week - whilst we have been very busy here at school, there has been a break in big newsworthy events. We are all focused on school-wide events - Science Week this week and Book Week next week!

We have had a fabulous Science Week (shout out to Mrs Bird) this week, with all students looking forward to the big races this afternoon! The science fairs have been amazing and it has been wonderful to see our community engaging in this, either visiting or participating with their children. Next week we turn our attention to books and our fantastic book parade (10 am Friday morning on the basketball courts if you would like to come and watch!) and author visits (please see Compass for specific year-level authors and dates).

An update on our S.T.E.M building project - we are now in the tendering stage for an architect to work with us on a Masterplan for the whole school site. The successful firm will begin working with us next term on the design, with the project taking about a year to complete. Our toilet upgrade is nearing completion, but has been delayed a few weeks as we needed a specific switchboard. We anticipate that these will be ready to use at the beginning of Term 3 at the latest.

Just a few reminders to finish off.

We are holding an online parent information session on Tuesday 5th September at 7:30 pm where you can find out more about SWPBS and what it will look like at Orchard Grove.

The annual Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey offered by the Department of Education is now open. This survey is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behaviour, and student engagement. Our school will use the survey results to help inform and direct future school planning and improvement strategies. The survey will close on Friday 8 September 2023.

Til next time

Cheers

Michelle
