As a Catholic school, the celebration of the Mass and the Sacraments are a priority each school year. On the 17th September, we celebrated our final First Holy Communion Mass for 2023. Three Masses were celebrated over two weeks. The Sacrament of Confirmation was celebrated during a special Mass on the 16th August 2023.

Eucharist is one of the seven Sacraments of the Catholic church.  In the Archdiocese of Melbourne, Eucharist (First Holy Communion) is usually celebrated after Baptism and Penance (First Reconciliation).  When and how it is celebrated may differ around the world. In Australia practices may differ from Diocese to Diocese and Parish to Parish. Again, practices for the seven Sacraments for Catholics in our school community who belong to one of the Eastern Rites of the Catholic Church will differ.

Regardless of the formalities,  we continue to look forward each year to the celebration of the Sacraments. May we never lose our awe and wonder.

Congratulations to the young people in our community who celebrated the Sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation in 2023.

In Term Four, our focus will be the Sacrament of Penance (Reconciliation).

As you will be aware, Mrs Jacqui Marshall has been appointed as the next Principal of Good Shepherd School. Mrs Marshall is currently the Principal of St Martins of Tours School, Rosanna.

Our best wishes are with Mrs Marshall as she transitions to Good Shepherd School in 2024.

God bless,

Ruth and Danielle
