Deputy News

Dear Parents and families,

It has been another wonderful few weeks full of excitement at Sacred Heart. As I reflect on Term 3 it has been filled with so much learning in and out of the classroom. One of our greatest achievements this term is our Production of  Peter Pan the Musical. These experiences are  more than just  a production. These experiences give students life long memories with a chance to shine on stage. It's allowed students to step out of their comfort zones and sing, act and dance in front of an audience. For some students it's overcoming a fear and anxiety of being in front of an audience for the very first time. Some students find this really challenging and others are living their best life in their absolute element. Let's celebrate all of these accomplishments., whether it's big or small.

The transformation I have seen in our senior students since our very first audtions back in Term 2 is phenomenal. I am so impressed wth their dedication and talent. When I chatted to the 5/6's yesterday after a whole day of rehearsals and I said it's more like a marathon than  a sprint. They have shown and continue throughout next week to show perserverance, determination, committment and grit. A lot of hard work has gone into lunchtime rehearsals, learning lines, learning songs, actions, making props, designing and creating costumes, organising logistics, sound and lighting plots, ticketing, posters, programs, sets and props, designing make-up, the list goes on.

This has truly been a team effort by all staff but Mr Stephen Coutts, our Music teacher and Director  needs to be recognised for the outstanding Musical talent in our show and for bringing it all together. His endless energy and time commitment outstands me everyday. You are truly in for a treat next Wednesday and Thursday evening so sit back and enjoy all the adventures along the way and your trip to the magical place called Neverland.

CELEBRATING OUR ACHIEVEMENTS

In my role, I've been fortunate enough to have many meetings over the past few weeks to celebrate the achievements many of our students have made this term. Whether it is an academic goal or a personal goal, it has been wonderful to share with families the growth of each individual.  The students are responding incredibly well to our structured, explicit teaching approach. I look forward to seeing the growth across our school in our final term of the year. Thankyou to all the teachers and LSO's who continue to make necessary adjustments for students in our care so everyone can access learning at Sacred Heart.

FATHERS DAY CELEBRATIONS at SACRED HEART & DAD's FOOTY

What a sensational day we enjoyed as we welcomed a record number of dad's into our community last Friday. It was so lovely to see so many dad's gather for  a cuppa before assembly and to stay for our assembly. Following assembly the dad's and special visitors had a chance to go into the classrooms and experience what happens inside the classroom. This was a highlight for our students and we had some sad farewells as they didn't want the dads and special visitors to leave.

On Saturday the sun was shining down on us at RG Chisholm Reserve as our dad's played the traditional Father's Day footy match against Sandy East. It was a tight game, but in the end we took home the cup for the first time since 2018 with a close win by 2 points.

Congratulations to Anthony McCabe for co-ordinating the Sacred Heart dads team and to Tony Begg for captaining the team for his last match. What a way to end a terrific dad's football career Tony!

BOOK WEEK PERFORMANCE

Today we had a Book week Performance “Way too Cool” by Perform Education. This  whole school incursion which  incorporated many of the shortlisted books in a performance about Friendship. A highly interactive musical adventure that explores situations every audience member, regardless of their age or background, will be able to relate to. At its heart WAY TOO COOL! is a celebration of the way books and the 2023 CBCA Shortlist can inspire every individual on their journey of personal growth and development.  It is also a journey that leads the students, with the characters, through the twists and turns of friendship and mapping out a way to solve their differences using empathy, kindness and a strong sense of humour.
