R U OK? Day

Thursday 14th September

A day dedicated to inspiring and empowering everyone to meaningfully connect with people around them by asking the simple question “Are you OK?”

R U OK? Day occurs annually on the second Thursday of September and aims to encourage and empower Australians to reach out to friends, family members and colleagues who might be struggling with life's ups and downs, and ask, 'Are you OK?'.

R U OK? Conversations leave people feeling supported, heard, safe and better about managing their situation having talked it through with someone who showed genuine interest and concern. It’s important to remember that you only need to ask the question and be prepared to listen, you don’t have to have all the answers.

This year at Oatlands we are highlighting the importance of checking in on our friends and family and providing opportunities for our students to engage in activities that promote:

  • supporting our friends
  • talking about how we feel
  • being a good friend and listener.

On Thursday 14th September students are invited to wear a touch of yellow (t-shirt, jumper, socks, ribbon, bow etc). Yellow symbolises optimism, joy, happiness and friendship.

Parents are invited to visit https://www.ruok.org.au for more information.
