Year Two

The Year Two students have been having so much fun over the last couple of weeks.

Writing:

In writing, the Year Two students have been learning about Poetry. Students explored a range of poetry, including - Haiku, Acrostic, multi, single verse, and limerick poems. Students explored all the different types of features that poetry has, including - alliteration, rhyme, repetition and onomatopoeia. The Year Two students really challenged themselves with all these poems and tried their very best to use as many features as possible in their poems. They were so engaged in this unit and got creative with their poems!

Reading:

In reading, the Year Two students have been focusing on a wide range of comprehension strategies that support them. So far, we have learnt about summarising, synthesising critiquing and using information from a text. The Year Two students were able to use their information skills to answer comprehension questions based on the book 'The Fox and the Crow', that we read as a class.

Mathematics:

In our Year Two classrooms, students have been engaged in exploring graphing. They've been tasked with answeringquestions such as, 'What is your favourite fruit?', using tally marks. Once all the responses were gathered, the information was compiled in the form of various graphs, including a bar graph, pictograph and line graph.

Inquiry:

The Year Two students are coming to the end of their Unit of Inquiry Four 'Where we are in time and place'. The students were so creative with their game creations. Some students created rules and instructions on how players were to use their toy or game!

UOI5: RAAF excursion

We are now approaching our Unit of Inquiry Five 'How we organise ourselves' where students had their provocation day at the RAAF museum. The students explored a range of different aircrafts that Australia used in their Army for WW1, WW2 and the Vietnam war. They were taken around the RAAF museum by their very own tour guide who explained their personal experiences of being a part of the Australian Air force. We also watched Air Force pilots fly an aircraft which was very exciting! The students had some very intriguing questions for the pilots including "How did you first learn to fly?" and "How long have you been in the Air force for?"

You can check out 'Duncan Fenn Photography' for some professional photographs taken at the air show.

Book Week:

Students explored the Book Week theme of 'Read, Grow, Inspire.' The Year Two students dove into what they believed that meant to them and how reading may inspire them. The Year Two students completed many activities around the book week theme throughout the week.

Students also participated in Book Day where they had the opportunity to dress up in one of

their favourite characters from a book. They looked absolutely amazing!
