School Council Update

Hi FPS Community!

A quick recap of the School Council Meeting held on September 4th:

Year 4 Camp to Mt Evelyn YMCA Approved

We're pleased to announce that the Year 4 Camp to Mt Evelyn has been given the green light. Our young adventurers will soon embark on an exciting journey in the great outdoors.

Outside Hours School Care Providers

We've received Expressions of Interest from several providers to deliver Outside Hours School Care. The School Council will be hearing presentations from these contenders at our next school council meeting. Our goal is to make a decision and award a contract in November, ensuring our students have top-notch care options.

Principal’s Morning Tea

Paul's Morning Tea was a hit this month, with a huge turnout. It's fantastic to see our school community come together to catch up with Paul.

Curriculum Days

We had a discussion about our curriculum days. While we could close the school for two extra days, we've decided to keep the doors open and bring in Casual Relief Teachers (CRTs) to ensure continuity of learning and the best education outcomes.

School Camps at Fairfield

Despite the media chatter about school camps being cancelled, our camps here at Fairfield will continue to run, offering valuable experiences for our students.

Voting Centre for Upcoming Referendum

We are officially confirmed as a polling site for the upcoming referendum. We are considering running a bbq/cake stall fundraiser to support our school.

Father's Day Breakfast

Our Father's Day breakfast was a fantastic success! Many thanks to Jennifer Clarke for organising this event. As a dad attending on the day, it was great to chat with some new people and even do some painting with the OSHClub team. The profits ($1,240) will be used to enhance resources for our new STEM program launching in 2024.

Yard Redevelopment

We've reviewed the draft designs for the yard redevelopment, and they look fantastic! These changes will also sort out our drainage issues in the courtyard.

Reconciliation Action Plan Committee

Serena shared some exciting news about our Reconciliation Action Plan Committee. The first meeting date is set, and it'll kick off with reflections on where our school is at, followed by developing our RAP.

Plaques for Main and Wingrove Street Campuses

Serena also showed off the Acknowledgement of Country plaques that will be placed at our Main and Wingrove Street campuses.

Lastly, a big thank you to Serena for her dedication and hard work on the school council. This is her last meeting before she goes on maternity leave, and we wish her all the best on this new journey.

Wishing everyone a happy and healthy school holidays!
