Book Week & Book Week Parade

BOOK WEEK and BOOK WEEK PARADE 2025
Different to previous years, Mooroolbark East PS will be conducting a Book Week parade and official Book Week (including the Book Fair) separately. These changes have come about due to parents’ desires to conduct the parade during the annual Australian National Book Week celebrations and the inability to obtain the number of book trolleys needed for a book fair during this particular week in August. This format will be trialled this year and reviewed in Term 4, before dates for the following year need to be booked.
Book Week at MEPS has remained an extremely important whole school event on the calendar for decades and is an awesome opportunity for students to celebrate their successes in reading and indulge in some great fun along the way!
The Australian National Children's Book Week theme for 2025 is…
‘Book an Adventure!’
This theme, which celebrates the 80th anniversary of Book Week, encourages children to embark on literary journeys and explore new worlds through the power of reading.
Students in all grade levels are invited to participate in our annual Book Week parade, which will be held on Thursday, 21st August under the dome, adjacent to the senior playground, approximately at 9:15am. For families who have not participated in Book Week at MEPS before, the Book Week parade is an opportunity for all students to come to school dressed up as their favourite ‘book character’ and participate in the parade. Prizes will be awarded in each grade level for the “Best Costume”.
So, parents and kids, pop your ‘thinking caps’ on and start organising your book week costumes NOW..!
Other important Book Week dates will be when MEPS hosts the 2025 Book Fair. This will be conducted all day on Thursday, 11th September, with all classes having a preview session at the fair and complete a ‘wish list’. Every grade’s preview session will take place in the days leading up to the actual Book Fair.
If you have any questions regarding Book Week 2025, please see Miss Keen (Grade 4 teacher located in the main building) or pass on your message to office staff.
Wishing everyone a happy time creating a Book Week costume!
Kind regards,
Melinda Keen
