Farewell to Sue Battista
This week we say a warm and heartfelt farewell to Sue Battista, who has been an integral part of Blackburn Primary School for an incredible 25 years. Over that time, Sue has played a huge role in shaping our school, most notably through her outstanding leadership as Maths Leader, driving improvement and fostering a love of mathematics in students and staff alike. Sue’s last day with BPS will be the 29th August and we wish her all the very best with the next stage of her career.
Sue has recently been promoted to an Education Improvement Leader (EIL) role within the Department of Education, South East Region. In this exciting new position, she will work with a network of schools in the Bayside area, allowing her to continue the impact she has had here at BPS across multiple schools.
Her dedication, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to student learning have left an indelible mark on our community. Sue’s calm, thoughtful approach and her ability to inspire both colleagues and students have made her an exceptional educator and leader.
While we are sad to see Sue leave, we are immensely proud of her achievement and grateful for her remarkable contribution to Blackburn Primary School. On behalf of our staff, students, and families — thank you, Sue, for everything you have given to our school. We wish you every success, happiness, and fulfilment in the next chapter of your journey.

WE WANT OUR PARENTS / CAREGIVERS / GUARDIANS TO TELL US WHAT THEY THINK!
Our school is conducting the annual Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey offered by the Department of Education and is seeking your feedback. The survey is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behavior, and student engagement. The survey is optional, but we encourage and appreciate your participation.
Our school will use the survey results to assist in identifying areas for improvement and professional development needs in the school, to target school planning and improvement strategies.
The Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey will be open online from Monday 18 August to Friday 19 September 2025.
The survey will be conducted online, only takes 20 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones.
