Principal's News

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome to Term 3!

I hope the holidays were a time of rest, fun, and reconnection for your families. It has been lovely to see the students return refreshed and eager to learn as we begin another exciting term together.

You may have noticed that our school grounds and facilities are looking especially beautiful. Over the break, we completed some important maintenance and upgrades. Our gardens have been refreshed and buildings carefully maintained, creating a welcoming and vibrant space for all.

A significant update over the holidays was the improvement to the shared parish/school carpark. We now have better marked pedestrian crossings, fresh line marking, and newly installed bollards to support the safe movement of cars and pedestrians. These changes have been made with the safety of our students, families, and parishioners in mind.

We kindly ask that:

  • You do not park in the disabled carparks unless you have a valid permit.
  • You drive slowly and with caution through all carpark areas.
  • You observe and respect all 'No Standing' signage.

Thank you for your cooperation and for helping us to keep our school safe for everyone.

We’re also pleased to share that enrolments for 2026 are going extremely well, and we are now almost full for our Foundation intake. Thank you to all families who continue to speak so positively about our school in the wider community.

There is some wonderful staff news to share as well:

Katia Picinali is expecting her first baby—what an exciting time for her and her family!

Claire Nicol is also expecting her second child—we are so happy for them and wish them all the best.

At the end of this term, we will be farewelling a much-loved member of staff, Rose Howell, who has decided to take up a new position at Hampton Park Primary School. Rose’s last day will be Thursday, 12th September. After nine and a half years of dedicated teaching at St Agatha’s, she will be greatly missed by staff, students, and families. We thank her sincerely for her care, professionalism, and many contributions to our community.

We are pleased to announce that Shevaun Lazarus will be stepping into the classroom teaching role from Term 4. Shevaun has been a valued member of our team as a Learning Support Officer, and has recently been granted Permission to Teach by the Victorian Institute of Teaching. We are delighted to support her as she continues her journey into classroom teaching.

Term 3 brings with it many special community events:

🌈 The Colour Run – always a highlight! All money raised will support upgrades to our playground and the purchase of new senior soccer goals.

📚 Book Week and the Art Show, which includes our treasured Grandparents’ Day—a wonderful opportunity to welcome grandparents into our learning spaces.

Father’s Day Breakfast and Stall – a great chance to celebrate the fathers and father-figures in our children’s lives.

We also keep in our prayers all students preparing for the Sacrament of Confirmation. As they get ready to receive the Gifts of the Holy Spirit, we ask that they are filled with wisdom, courage, and faith. May they continue to grow in love, patience, and kindness, reflecting the Fruits of the Spirit in all they do.

Let us begin this term with gratitude and prayer:

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him,

so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”

Romans 15:13

Wishing all families a safe, joyful, and enriching Term 3.

Warm regards,

Michelle Bruitzman
