Singleton Agriculture Education Day 

On Friday 20 June, Year 10 Agriculture attended Singleton Beef & Land Management Associations, Agriculture Day. 

 

The day provided students with opportunities to attended workshops including – steer and heifer judging, dung beetles and their impact on land sustainability, artificial insemination in cattle breeding, common animal diseases and their symptoms, seed identification and cheese production.

 

It was a fantastic opportunity for our students to expand their knowledge and become exposed to different areas of Agriculture.

North-West Equestrian Expo – Coonabarabran 

From Friday 30 May – Tuesday 3 June, Ben C and Ben P proudly represented St Joseph's at the North-West Equestrian Expo, at Coonabarabran. It is a massive effort for these students (and their parents), to prepare themselves and their horses for this event. ‘Coona’ involves five days of competition, in which the boys both were highly successful in!

 

Ben P competing in the 16yrs division achieved the following results:

  • 2nd Flag Race

  • 3rd Bending Race

Ben C competing in the 15yrs division achieved the following results :

  • 6th in 65cm One Day Event

  • 5th Bending Race

  • 4th Barrel Race

  • 5th Flag Race

  • 2nd in Warrumbungle Way Challenge

  • 5th in Snr Boys Pentathlon

  • 15 yrs Boys Reserve Champion Point Score

 

The highlight of the event was the team, consisting of Ben P, Ben C and Jessica Foster from Orana, Canberra, placing 1st in Team Penning and 2nd in A Grade Polocrosse.

 

The boys are determined to take out winners in the A Grade Polocrosse and have already organised their section for next year!
