Red Door Community Kitchen

Since Term 1 of 2024, St Joseph’s Catholic College has been actively involved in supporting the Red Door Community Kitchen in Muswellbrook. This partnership has continued into 2025, with student leaders and staff dedicating their Thursday afternoons throughout Semester One to assist alongside other community volunteers.

The Red Door Community Kitchen is a non-profit organisation committed to providing meals and essential support to individuals and families in need. It serves as a vital resource for those experiencing food insecurity, social isolation, or financial hardship, offering not only nourishment but also a sense of stability and community. By providing free or low-cost meals, Red Door ensures that all members of the community have access to healthy and sustaining food.

For our staff, this experience has been deeply humbling. It has been a privilege to work in solidarity with other volunteers and to witness our students embody the spirit of service inspired by Mary MacKillop’s enduring words: “Never see a need without doing something about it.” Their compassion, initiative, and commitment to social justice have been truly commendable.
