Term 3 has commenced. This term is only 9 weeks long and will pass us by so very quickly. Term 3 in schools is often seen as particularly productive for several key reasons — even though it's not typically a heavy assessment term like Term 2 or Term 4.
By Term 3, students and teachers are well into the the rhythm of the school year with settled routines.
PRINCIPAL'S DAY
Thank You for Celebrating Principal's Day
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped make Principal's Day so special. As the principal of our school, I was truly overwhelmed by the acts of kindness, thoughtful messages of gratitude, and the special assembly in my honour. Your support and appreciation mean so much, and I feel incredibly fortunate to be part of such a caring and vibrant school community.
Thank you once again!
Attendance is always a priority. Children need to be at school to access their learning. This term we are investigating our attendance data and committed to working with our families to ensure that attendance rates improve. We are noticing a high rate of absences with some students and this is impacting student learning outcomes.
If your child is absent, please let us know the reason, this also includes early departures and late arrivals. Our goal is to work with you to achieve the motto 'Every day counts!'
Planning for 2026 Has Begun!
If you have a child starting school next year, we’d love to welcome you for a personalised tour of Bittern Primary School. Come and see what makes our school such a great place to learn and grow. Enrolment forms are available from the school office.
Please spread the word to family and friends— Bittern PS is a fantastic school community, and we’re excited to welcome new families for 2026!
We are extremely grateful to the Bendigo Bank Balnarring & District branch for their generous donation in support of our Digi Tech program. Their contribution is helping us provide students with greater access to technology and learning tools, equipping them with the skills they need for the future. We are in the process of ordering 25 new laptops for our students to use as part of their IT program.
It’s wonderful to see our local community getting behind education. Bendigo Bank has also played a key role in promoting our school to the wider community through the eye-catching photo board now on display at the railway crossing in Bittern – a great showcase of our vibrant school spirit.
Thank you, Bendigo Bank, for your ongoing support!
Thank you to all families who are selling chocolate and lolly boxes as part of our school fundraiser. Just a reminder that all money and unsold items need to be returned to the school by Friday 15th August.
Congratulations to the Van De Kasteele family who were the first to return their chocolate money. They have won a family pass to Moonlit Sanctuary.
Just a reminder to our families not to bring your furry friend into the school grounds. Bittern PS has a No Dogs in Schools policy.
This policy ensures that our school community is kept safe. We ask that if you do bring your dog at drop off and pick up times to please keep them outside the school premises.
Bittern PS has a strict dress code policy that sets out requirements for student dress and appearance. We are noticing that students are wearing a wide range of jewellery to school. The dress code policy states the following:
Jewellery and cosmetics
Students are not permitted to wear decorative jewellery to school. Stud earrings and sleepers worn in the ears, and watches (excluding SMART watches and wearable devices) are the only acceptable jewellery. Cosmetics may not be worn at school. Only clear nail polish is permitted.
Students wearing excessive jewellery such as necklaces, nose rings, bracelets etc. are at risk of an injury whilst playing on our equipment and during sports and games. It is also important to set a high standard of presentation for our students and this is achieved by adhering to the standards in our student dress code policy.
We thank you for your support.
